Re: Daily Bed Rest Check-In (MON) 11/14/11

  • Hi everyone - hope you all had good weekend!

    1.  Do you have an object of focus picked out for the delivery to have in your room with you?

I haven't given one second of thought to delivery - I am too focused on NOT delivering any time soon!!

    2.  What is the farthest from home you've ever travelled?

I've been thought most of Europe - I think Greece is probably the farthest point from home.  I recently had to turn down a business trip to Thailand - now THAT would have easily been the farthest!!

    3.  Has your shoe size increased from being pregnant?

I was just thinking about this - it hadn't before bedrest, but I've only had on slippers and TOM'S since that point, so who knows???  I HOPE NOT!!

    4.  Updates & Vents

We dog-sat my friend's pooch.  She was excellent bedresting company!!  Also, my manicurist friend came by last night and gave me a manicure - such a treat!

  • Hi ladies! Hope everyone had a great weekend! And yay to each of us for another week of baby cooking! 1. Haven't done that yet. 2. I've been to India on a missions trip with our church. 3. Nope! I don't think so. 4. My in-laws came up Sat and cleaned, gave us a nice check to help with bills, helped DH w/yard work, brought meals and gave us a few outfits for our lo. They also took DH grocery shopping and paid the bill. And we received an anonymous gift on DH's car windshield. Sunday. It was an unsigned card with a $100 Target gift card and 2, $50 Visa cards. We were left speechless and I cried. That was so touching and a huge help since I've been off work on bedrest for going on 5 weeks. I have no income now and we're relying on DH's salary. Medical bills related to this pg are coming in and it's been tough. Ppl have been so kind and generous to us!

  • 1) I have a c-sectioned planned because they've both been breech the entire time so far, and with my three fibroids taking up room they don't think it's likely that they'll flip. However, I'm hoping they flip and I can deliver vaginally, so I guess I should think about this!

    2) The furthest I've traveled is India. I went with H and his family after we had been dating for about a year. I loved seeing everything, especially the Taj Mahal, and I'm sure we'll take the girls there so they can see where their dad was born, but it was ridiculously hot and humid and I wasn't crazy about the food. Great diet, though - I lost over 10 pounds in two weeks between walking in the heat and not liking the food :)

    3) I hope not! My mom and sister are going to pick me up for a quick trip to BRU to return some duplicates and it'll be the first time in a week and a half that I put on real shoes (well, sneakers). I know I shouldn't go, but I'm going to go crazy if I don't get out of the house. My mom will drive, my sister will sit in the back with her baby and I'll recline the passenger seat so I'm not sitting upright. That's how I'm justifying it :)

  • 1. Do you have an object of focus picked out for the delivery to have in your room with you?

Just DH! I think I will more than likely be having a csection. I'm hoping I won't have to go into labour at all.

    2. What is the farthest from home you've ever traveled?

Europe. In high school I went to France and England. I loved it, and would LOVE to go back!

    3. Has your shoe size increased from being pregnant?

Not at all! I'm happy about this since my feet are big enough!

    4. Updates & Vents

My shower on the weekend was great! I had such a great time and it was so nice seeing everyone. I was exhausted by the end of the day, but it was worth it! We got swings for the babies, lots of bibs, clothes, Halo sleep sacks... DH had a great time bringing it home and putting it all away.

  • Happy Monday everyone! Congrats on successfully incubating for another weekend!

    1. Do you have an object of focus picked out for the delivery to have in your room with you?

I honestly haven't given this much thought. It's probably something I will never get around to. I am not opposed to a medicated birth, so we'll see how it goes.

    2. What is the farthest from home you've ever traveled?

Europe - I have been to France and Italy.

    3. Has your shoe size increased from being pregnant?

I don't think so. Like PP, I have not had on regular shoes in about 2.5 weeks, but it hadn't changed before that at 30 weeks, and my feet don't look especially different now.

    4. Updates & Vents

Since being in the hospital, I have been seen by the same MFM, who is the one that was screening me like crazy for GD. I think she has rejected me since I passed all the tests, LOL. Anyway, a new doctor met with me today and unexpectedly ordered a new fetal fibronectin test and transvaginal ultrasound, neither of which I was expecting to get until next week. The bad news is that my cervix has thinned out more, going from 1.7 cm to 1.0 cm over the last 2 weeks. But....the FFN was negative! So who knows what they are going to do with me.

This is so nice! I would have cried too.

  • 1.  Do you have an object of focus picked out for the delivery to have in your room with you?
Even though I'm all for the epidural (I'd take one now if I could), they recommended a focus object for the contractions leading up to it...I thought I'd take a picture of my dog, but Friday I was in the midst of a hysterical breakdown (the kind where you know this can't be good for the baby you're crying so hard), and I caught a glimpse of one of my stuffed dolphins and I immedately relaxed and was able to breathe normally so now it's the object.  Who knows, it might come in handy.

    2.  What is the farthest from home you've ever traveled?
Kenya - went on a safari and it was amazing.  That is one trip I would love to do again with my husband and soon-to-be son one day.

    3.  Has your shoe size increased from being pregnant?
I meant to try on my sneakers to check and see if it has, but I forgot and am on the couch so I'm going to guess no.  All I've had on my feet for 7+ weeks is flip flops.

    4.  Updates & Vents
32 Weeks!!! I truly can't believe it.  This seemed like a pipe dream on Sept 23rd when I first went to L&D.  CL is 3.0 cm, LO is estimated to weigh 4lb 11oz.  He's been breech for the past month; his butt is down where his head should be, and his feet are up over his face (we have a little yogi!) so no good profile pictures today and I'm coming to grips with a c-section if he doesn't flip.  At this point, I really don't care as long as he keeps buying more time and comes out healthy when he does come.  Still super crampy but I'm not telling my OB that :)

    Have a great one!

  • Happy Monday ladies! We are that much closer... Big Smile

    1.  Do you have an object of focus picked out for the delivery to have in your room with you?

Just DH! He is very good at keeping me calm and focused.

    2.  What is the farthest from home you've ever traveled?

Jamaica. And it was fabulous!! I really want to go back but not sure when that might be an option...

    3.  Has your shoe size increased from being pregnant?

Not that I know of, but I haven't had on real shoes since before 24 weeks. Only flip flops!!

    4.  Updates & Vents

Quicky appointment this morning. NST and visit with the NP. All looked good and we are headed into 35 weeks! That is the cutoff at my hospital... <35 weeks equals automatic NICU admission, >35 weeks only go to NICU if they show signs of needing to! There is still a chance they would have to go, but I am so excited just to almost be at the point where they might be able to come home with us!!! Big Smile

  • Hi ladies!  I hope everyone had a good weekend.

    1.  Do you have an object of focus picked out for the delivery to have in your room with you?  No focus object for me.  Actually, with DD I was completely focused on one of the nurses who talked me through my contractions.  (I was induced and went into full-blown labor quicker then expected, so I spent about an hour NOT pushing while we waited for my doctor.)  I'm hoping to be able to have an epidural this time around and not really need a focus object

    2.  What is the farthest from home you've ever traveled?  My family went to The Netherlands and London when I was 10.

    3.  Has your shoe size increased from being pregnant?  Nope.  And it didn't increase when I was pregnant with DD.  My feet did swell, but did not get longer.

    4.  Updates & Vents:  No updates.  My next appointment with my OB isn't until next week and I don't see my peri until the Monday after Thanksgiving.  My vent - I'm still waiting to hear from my job about my coming back to work part-time after Thanksgiving.  I talked to her last Thursday morning!

  • 1.  Do you have an object of focus picked out for the delivery to have in your room with you?

As of right now I have not even thought about delivery. I have a feeling that I will end up with an emergency c-section.

    2.  What is the farthest from home you've ever traveled?

    Maybe Mexico?

    3.  Has your shoe size increased from being pregnant?

I have not worn shoes since the end of September, but I think that my feet feels the same. I guess that I will find out when DH brings me close to go home in.

    4.  Updates & Vents

I keep getting this nurse that I cannot stand. I think that I am going to have to speak with the nurse manager about not getting her again.
