Houston Babies

baby moving?

what did it feel like the first time you felt your baby move?  I swear I'm farther along than my doctor says and I think I felt something.  Honestly, my LMP was not normal and very very short.  Also the second time I saw the baby it looked like the pictures of a 4 month baby not a 3 month baby... hhhmmm.

I have an appt Nov 3 so i will mention this... just wondering what it actually felt like the first time for you.

Re: baby moving?

  • ok, so i looked it up online and babycenter said it could feel like popcorn popping or butterfly flutters and should be felt around 16 weeks which is in three more weeks.  I might be imagining this.  It felt like just a twinge in one spot over and over again.  I know I could just want it to feel like the baby but it could be gas.  I know, I know.

  • sorry, I didn't mean to do that.
  • I first felt Marion at 16 weeks and it felt like when you go downhill on a roller coaster
  • I could feel "movement" with both by 18 weeks but it is very possible to feel the baby earlier.  I hate the whole "it's just gas" reply.  Maybe but who really knows.
  • I didn't feel anything with Luca until about 18-20 weeks..  However, I swear I've already felt things with this one...
  • I didn't feel anything until right at 20 weeks. I never got those flutter type feelings though. I just felt definite movement and just kind of knew it was the baby. But I know many people feel those flutters pretty early on.

i'm with you on the "it's just gas thing." if you think you feel the baby how can anyone prove you wrong? it's a bond between you and your kid, everyone is different. either way you feel something growing inside you, which is your baby, so there.

and bpaullo, "they" say you feel the 2nd earlier then the 1st because you know exactly what it feels like.

This was me exactly.  I felt movement a month earlier with the second baby, at around 14 weeks.

  • You could most definitely be feeling your little one.  YAY!  I felt Amelia at 12 weeks.  It felt like somebody running their fingers up my right side, way too cool.  Then at 15 weeks I started feeling little kicks, got stronger by 17 weeks and I could feel them on the outside.  At 19w6d DH felt her kick.  Baby movement is the coolest part of pregnancy.  Enjoy it!

ok, I've had these most definetely and I thought it was excitement about being a mom... i would start thinking about it after feeling the butterflies.

  • thanks girls for not telling me I'm a moron.  I was sitting still watching the Ohio St / Penn St game and I could feel these twinges in one spot.  I swear I've felt them in the exact same spot and that's why I have all these questions.  I'm so happy to be a mom and i'm excited too.  Maybe the excitement feelings from earlier were it too!
  • You could most definitely be feeling the baby.  I first felt Mia around 14 weeks, and she was pretty solidly moving after that (she's never quite slowed down...).

I had the opposite experience... this one I sorta felt early, but not regularly until 16 weeks or so.  This one just doesn't move as much or as hard as Mia did.

  • I think you could!! You have a small frame and your baby could be sitting in the front of your uterus, so it is possible. You could also be measuring large, so you'd have a larer-strongger baby.

I didn't feel Joe until around 18 weeks.

  • 15-16 weeks.  Felt like butterfies were in there flying around.
  • I think it was like 25 weeks before I felt something.  She has never been very active.

  • I felt my first really distinct flutters at about 15-16 weeks. They have become more frequent and are becoming stronger each week and are more like thumps over the past couple of weeks. I, too, hated the "are you sure it's not gas?" remarks...ummm, I know my body thankyouverymuch!
  • I first felt something around 17 weeks. It was 3 little pops along the inside of my stomach--definitely not gas. I might have felt some flutters but they weren't as obvious.

  • When I first felt Avery, it felt like I was on a rollercoaster.  I was at my desk at work and it was almost nauseating because it kept happening.

I *think* I felt this one today.
