IVF Question : Ultrasound before stims (AFC) ?

I'm currently on BCPs in preparation for our first IVF cycle.

The RE wants me to do an ultrasound and bloodwork 2 days before I start stims.

My (silly) question is about the ultrasound. 

Do they do an AFC at the ultrasound before you start stims or after?

They'll count how many follicles you are developing as you stim, too; but I don't know that those are called AFCs.

AFC comes before stims.  My IVF nurse described it as a "quick shot of our potential recruitees."  The discrepancy between my AFC and the low number of follies growing was the reason that my first IVF attempt was cancelled.

I just also wanted to add that the ER date is going to depend on how you respond to stims, so your calendar will be tentative. 10 days of stims is the usual best guess, but it can be less and certainly can be more. For example, my ER is estimated at 11/28, but my calendar says it can be within a block of days (11/28-12/2), therefore also putting my ET anywhere between 12/1 and 12/6. Thought I'd mention that since I see the dates in your sig. GL!
