I'm having trouble with my doctor wanting to increase my dose of natural thyroid even though I KNOW I need it. I'm so worried and fed up with this and I need to find a doctor who understands my medication.
I am on Levothyroxine but I know a couple other people who are also pregnant and are hypothyroid. The consensus seems to be that your thyroid medication needs often change during pregnancy regardless of what kind of medication you use and that it is important to get the right dose. I am actually surprised that you are having to fight for this as normally dr.s like to keep a close eye on the thyroid levels during pregnancy and aren't surprised or alarmed by changes.

Recovering from mitochondrial dysfunction and Addison's/possibly very severe adrenal burn out using food, medicine, and a large amount of garden therapy.
The problem is that a lot of endocrinologists don't like Natural Thyroid, so they don't even bother to learn how to work with the medication. The testing is slightly different from those on traditional thyroid meds and I cannot find a doctor who understands that. VERY frustrating.
Sorry about the doctors lack of knowledge. The only doctor I have seen that knew and used Natural Thyroid was a functional medicine doctor. www.functionalmedicinedoctors.com has a directory where you can find a doctor in your area. I have only seen one functional medicine doctor, so I don't know if her knowledge is common across the board or not.

I just had another thought... I wonder if while sorting out the doctor problem you could make what you are taking go further. For instance, I am taking an iodine supplement, and I know someone who takes kelp for their thyroid (although I can't remember if they were hypo or hyper).
