Baby Names

G/G twins

Josephine Rae and Claire Eleanor ....I am loving these but worry they sound weird with Graeme. My Grandmother is Joesphine and late Grandfather Raymond...Great Grandma Clair and DH's Grandmother is Eleanor I would use Eleanor Clair instead (and maybe will) but I feel like Ella and Ellie are super popular right now. Honest input please.

FWIW: We obviously don't know the sexes yet if they are boy/boy we will either go with Rhys and Jude or Ewan and Cameron or Garrett middle names Raymond and Jospeh. No idea if it's b/g since I don't think any of our boy and girl names "go" together though suggestions are welcome.

Re: G/G twins

  • I prefer Eleanor Clair to Claire Eleanor. You can always correct others on any nn they try to use. Josephine and Eleanor are a good sibset. I also think Beatrix Clair and Josephine Rae sound nice.

I love Beatrix but I I doubt I could get DH on board. And I don't love the name Eleanor and have always loved Ellie but oh the popularity...I could call her Elle but it sounds too pretentious to me for some reason. We would likely call Josephine Josie or JoJo...My grandmother goes by Jo.

  • I like Eleanor better than Claire, but I understand your hesitation with the Ellie Invasion.  And I actually think that ALL of your names go together really well.  It's not like your son's name is Graeme and you want to name the twins Blaiden and Brynnleigh.  I give you a Yes!

  • Graham (spelled this way) is a family name for us. Josephine and Claire sound perfect with it. They all sound classic and traditional. Typically not a fan of "Rae" as a middle name, but I like the family connection.

Love Ewan and Garrett, as well as Rhys and Jude for boys. Cameron has just never excited me.

    For b/g twins:

    Ewan and Claire

    Jude and Claire

Josephine and Rhys (No kidding, I actually know a family with two girls named Josephine and Reese but I prefer Rhys for boys).

    Garrett and Claire

  • Love Rae as the middle name with Josephine. I love the name Claire as well. It is a little difficult to say Claire Eleanor (as opposed to Eleanor Claire--which rolls off the tongue a little more). Overall, I like both girl's names a lot and besides how often will you really  have to say "Claire Eleanor" quickly? :)

  • I really like Josephine and Claire.  If you'd prefer Eleanor, what about nn Norrie or Nora?  (I especially like the former -- Norrie sounds so sweet without being cutesy or cloying.)

  • Love your names!  And congrats!  We came very close to naming our little one Josephine.

I LOVE Eleanor and would use it and not shorten to Ellie.  I also LOVE Clair/Clare/Claire.  However, I prefer that Eleanor is less used than Clair so I would go w/Josephine and Eleanor.

  • PS-  I love Jude for a boy.  Jude and Claire are nice together (also both are great saints if you are Catholic).

Not currently practicing as DH refused to marry in a Catholic Church. Do you think Claire Josephine would work...the Josephine is kind of non negotiable but I do agree that Claire and Jude sound nice and I like them with Graeme.

  • Pretty names and I think they sound fine with Graeme.  I do like Eleanor Claire better.  If you are worried about Ellie as a nn maybe use Nora instead?
