Hi ladies, I've been planning on a natural, med-free birth at my hospital with a midwife and a doula. Both have been really great for the entirety of my pregnancy (especially my midwife) and I wanted to get them each a little something to thank them for their help during the process. My doula is going for her certification right now, so we are not paying her a fee at all. I was thinking we would probably gift her with a small monetary amount too, but I was wondering if anyone had any ideas or something that we could give to them as a token of our appreciation. Did any of you give your doulas or midwives anything to thank them?

Suddenly the world seems such a perfect place.
Suddenly it moves with such a perfect grace.
Suddenly my life doesn't seem such a waste,
It all revolves around you.
Re: Lurker with a question
I used an OB but she was so wonderful in supporting our birth wishes that we got her a basket of Harry & David pears.
I also wrote each one a heartfelt card -- which is probably all you need to do anyway.
I wrote a thank-you card to a really nice nurse I had in recovery. That's all I did.
I think the idea of a gift of money is really nice for you doula - becoming a doula costs money, so she can probably use it.
I think most baby-delivering types really like photos of their happy healthy babies, so including a photo with whatever you give is probably great. I'm a fan of consumable gifts generally - good coffee, fruit, muffins, chocolate, wine, etc.
