I decided to donate my hair to locks of love today so I had to have 10 inches chopped off... well it's a lot shorter than i originally anticipated & my shower is tomorrow... Im just hoping it will grow in for the photos of LOs birth...

I mean I am happy my hair is going to a good cause & my head is much lighter but it's reeaallly short lol it was down to my belly before (now its barely at my chin)

Not to rain on your parade even further, but I hope you know Locks of Love is not as great as they seem.  They sell more of their donated hair than they actually make into wigs, and they sell the wigs (on a sliding price scale) to the families of children with alopecia, scalp burns, and chemo hair loss.  Since 1997 they've provided a whopping 2000 wigs to children.

I am failing to see why this was a necessary comment. Too little too late now don't you think? OP, I am sure you look great, it definitely takes some time to get used to shorter hair though!

Agreed.  And 2000 is better than none.  Rather donate it than let it go to waste.

OP, I bet you look fantastic and your hair will be much more manageable now that it's shorter, which will be helpful when your LO gets here.  And of course it does grow back!  Good for you for donating to a good cause.

Whenever I drastically change hairstyles it takes me like a week to even feel like I'm looking at myself. I'm sure you'll love it once you get used to it. Now seems like such a great time for a little pampering and change before our worlds get turned upside down.

Sometimes it's nice to cut it all off and start over again, and if you haven't cut it in awhile it feels like such a shock. I'm sure it'll be fine by the time you give birth, it usually takes a couple days to get used to the change and learn to style it the way it suits you.

I think it's great you did that, my SIL wants to do the same for our MIL who lost all her hair a few years ago so she can make it into a new wig.

I have this unhealthy attachment to my hair. I always have. However, I always dream about how nice it would be to be able to shower and blow dry my hair in less than 30 minutes. I have the thickest hair and its down to my waist. I thin it out a lot so its not so poofy but its still a lot to manage. 

I think you just need some time to get used to and at least you know it will always grow back if you absolutely cannot get used to it.

You did a good thing whether the organization is a crock or not. I wish more people were as selfless as you.

Good for you mama! What a selfless thing to do. We had a good friend(male) grow his hair out, ridiculously long. And we never let it up, bugged him profusely, But he never told us why he was growing his curly hair so long. Until one day, low and behold, it was SUPER short, he then explained he donated it for kids with cancer. We felt so bad for bugging him about it. I would love to do what you did. One day I DEFINITELY will. So way to go, I'm sure you look FABULOUS! Don't sweat it, it always takes a little time to adjust, even with 4-5 inchs off

Agreed.  Your comment made me cringe.  

Locks of Love does a lot of great things.  If they can't use your hair, they sell it to help fund the project.  They donate large amounts of money to alopecia research also.  

If there's one thing being a hair stylist has taught me, it's that hair grows!  I bet it looks adorable and you will get used to it.  It takes some time.

thanks everyone! I tried styling a little tonight & Im more used to it now.. I like doing locks of love its always just a little shocking when I do since it's really short.. great thing around here is the salon cuts for free when you donate

I'm sure you look awesome! And it's great that you donated your hair too I've always wanted to do that, but I can't seem to keep from dying my hair for that long, heh

I kinda did the same thing - got my hair cut shorter than I meant to right before my shower - but it grew on me (ha, ha) and now I like it. Who knows, I may even keep it this short. The hardest thing is getting used to dramatically less shampoo/conditioner...

I wouldn't have done it but that's because I read in a pregnancy book that pg wormen are often driven to make drastic changes that they regret later. I've been tempted to cut my hair during this pg and have decided to wait so I don't regret it.

 But hair is hair and it will grow back

It's always a shock to get that much cut off all at once, but I bet it looks great!
