Where to stay in DC?

Hi Ladies! We are going to Washington DC in the middle of next month for a family trip. Are there any particular areas or hotels you would recommend? Also, any activities that are a must with kids while we are there or restaurant recs? thanks! :)

Dx: LPD
Cycle #1(08/2012): Clomid 50 mg CD3-7, Ovidrel CD13 + Progesterone = It worked!
BFP #5 on 09/10/12 (11 DPO). HCG #1 @ 14DPO = 131.6 HCG #2 @ 16DPO = 509

    all the museums are free; so is the zoo (but parking is $22!!!), it's on the metro though

    have fun, bring warm clothes, gloves, hats, scarves, etc

    You'll be here during the holiday season, I would definitely make it down to the pageant of peace and the national horticulture museum. The latter is incredibly beautiful and indoors. As to hotels, quill you just be here for the weekend? There is a Marriott residence inn in Rosslyn near the metro. Its usually pretty affordable on the weekends.

    Zoo Lights at the National Zoo is a fun evening event for the family!  Definitely bring warm clothes to bundle up outside though!

    Thank you so much! We will be staying from a Wednesday to Sunday. Do you think staying Downtown is a good idea? Or how about Dupont Circle or Georgetown? I would rather stay closer to the attractions since we will be with the boys but at the same time would like to stay somewhere safe. Thanks again! ;)

    All of those neighborhoods would be safe. Check out the kimpton hotels. They're a smaller boutique chain and they are rather nice. The hotel Monaco even has loaner goldfish for you room. With two kids though, I wouldn't discount some of the suite hotels. Most include breakfast and well its nice having more than one room, especially after bedtime.
