Cincinnati Babies

Recommended OBGYN

Hi. I recently moved to Germantown from out of state and am in need of an OBGYN. I do not know anyone so I was hoping someone on this thread could point me in the right direction. This will be my 3rd baby and c-section. My youngest is 15 months old and I am very nervous about having a baby this close to the last. I have looked online at reviews but I would really appreciate real women giving me their opinions. Also, can I get a recommendation for a pediatrician? Thanks so very much!

Re: Recommended OBGYN

  • Unfortunately, I can't help - as I don't even know where Germantown is. But welcome to Ohio! :) Where'd you move from?

  • It is close to Dayton, Miamisburg, Middletown area.
  • Hi! I think you may be the first Nestie from Germantown :). I've lived in Dayton for 11 years and have only been out that way twice, but I like the area and I think you will, too. There are a nice group of us in Dayton and the surrounding areas and we occasionally get together, so I will post on here if we are doing anything anytime soon-- maybe once everything dies down.

I can't recommend an OB-GYN in Germantown specifically, but you are near enough to both Miami Valley Hospital and both Kettering Health Network hospitals with a maternity ward-- the main Kettering Hospital and also Kettering Southview (one is in Kettering, one is in Miamisburg/Centerville). You could pick from those in terms of physicians affiliated. I chose my OB based off the recommendations of a few girls from this area and he is great. His name is Dr. Pawlosky and he delivers at the Kettering Health Network hospitals. His office is right by the Dayton Mall in Miamisburg/Centerville. If you chose to go to Miami Valley Hospital to deliver, which is right downtown, I have heard great things about Drs. Horlacher and Wood who deliver there.

Glad you're here and hopefully you are enjoying the area. I love it here and there is such a wealth of things to do in this area both with and without kids. Feel free to post if you have any area-specific questions.

  • I'm in Cincinnati, so I'm no help but my husband is from Germantown :)

Huey & Weprin have a homebase in Englewood but also practice at their office in Miamisburg as well as in Kettering a few days a week. They deliver at Goodsam, Kettering, and the Valley. They have been my ob/gyn for 8 years and I would never go anywhere else! The nurse practioners are fabulous and they have also added a female Dr., Dr Seema Sharma. I think very highly of her, I had some bleeding late in my pregnancy and she had me come in the next morning before the office even opened to check me out herself.

I delivered at Kettering (I live north of dayton so it was a hike, and was the furtherest from my home), but I would have it no other way. They have a brand new mother/baby ward and its very nice. The staff there was excellent as well. I delivered my DD on December 23 of last year and came home Christmas day :)

Best of luck to you, any questions feel free to PM me :)

  • Sorry, I just saw your post about the Pedi as well. We use Dr Horvath and Willamitis in Tipp City. Thats probably farther than you'd want to drive (although it is a straight shot down I75), I think they also have a vandalia office. I love them as well, always a nurse on call and a way to talk to an actual person. Dr. Horvath specializes in working with children with special needs, we have not seen him but my gf has been going there for 20 some years for both her children (1 special needs, 1 not). They are all friendly and helpful.

  • Thanks everyone! The area is beautiful! Thank you for all of the recommendations.Big Smile
  • I am also from Dayton, and I recommend Contemporary OB/GYN www.cobgyndayton.com/ . They deliver at Southview hospital. Hospital rooms are huge and its a baby-friendly hospital. I would recommend Pediatric Associates of Dayton www.pediatricassociatesofdayton.com/ I don't have any complaints about either place. I've been going to the same OB for 10+ years.

I am also a mama to young girls - a 3 year old, 18 month old and I'm 28 weeks pregnant - so I'm understanding about having kids close together.

    Welcome to the area!
