? about making the move from IUI to IVF

So I just began IUI #3 and I'm already thinking ahead to IVF.  I have a tubal issue, so am not very hopeful about IUI working, so am excited about moving onto IVF.  After this IUI, I would go in for BW on 15dpiui and was told if it's negative then we meet with my RE again to discuss IVF.

My question is for those ladies who've already moved onto IVF, did you have to wait a cycle before getting started or did you just jump right into IVF?

I haven't done IVF yet, but at my clinic most people do three weeks of BC and then stim.

I hope this is it for you and you won't have to worry about IVF.

If you do though, I think you'll likely have a lag in between cycles (maybe just 1) to 1.) have your consult, get all your paperwork together, notarized, etc. 2.) have any additional bloodwork done for you and your DH (if needed) and get your trial transfer and SHG taken care of and 3.) iron out your particular protocol. You may need to be on BCPs for 2-4 weeks.

I was able to jump right in.  As soon as I got the negative beta for my final IUI cycle, they had me start birth control for IVF.  I just had to take care of IVF pre-requisites, like having a SHG done, before I could start stims.

I did not have to wait a cycle... we jumped right in.  Although with the protocol I'm on, it was like waiting 1/2 a cycle

I am in the same boat as you -- IUI#3 is tomorrow, but I have already moved on to IVF in my head.  My RE said we can move right into it if this is a fail.  I just booked my IVF consult for before my beta will even be scheduled -- I want to make sure we have the ball rolling sooner rather than later so that we are not scrambling (if?)/when AF arrives.

I had to do one cycle on BCPs and start lupron 2 weeks into that cycle.  It seems like a long process, but it gave me time to mentally prepare for IVF.  I am starting stims tonight and I feel ready to go!

We jumped straight in. That being said each IVF cycle is about a 2 month process between the suppression period, then starting stims, etc. My clinic had me do 2 weeks of bcp, then 2ish weeks of Lupron, then I started stims. However, different clinic's do different protocols and I know my clinic will skip the bcp with certain dx (don't really know what dx thought). Good luck!

This. My RE suggested starting BCPs right after my last failed iui #3. I chose to take a month break from meds and wait a month to start BCPs to give my body a break and bc of the holidays. Good luck!
