As if it's not upsetting/frustrating/insulting enough to have done IUIs and 2 IVFs and still have no baby, now I'm being harassed by the absolute idiots in the finance department at my RE's office.
Back when we did our first IVF cycle, we KNEW we'd max out our benefit at some point during that cycle. And we did. We went over our maximum by a little over $3300. This was in August. Now it's November, and not only am I still dealing with bills for that cycle, I'm dealing with WRONG bills for that cycle. The woman who does all the payment posting/insurance billing for the practice keeps not understanding she's making a math error that = her constantly telling me I owe $1000 more than I actually do. Oh, and I also received a bill for anesthesiology that was paid months ago by my insurance company, and a bill for the "insurance contracted discount" portion of blood work from one of my monitoring appointments (which they can't charge me, because it's a contracted discount, so they can't ask the patient to pay the discounted portion of the fee).
I've talked to this woman 3 times now about this $1000 issue. I've also spoken with "my" financial rep (who is always wonderful). AND I've spoken with my insurance company, which has sent me letters to prove they are billing me wrong and that I don't need to pay them the extra $1000. This woman STILL doesn't understand that she's adding things up incorrectly. I'm at my wit's end, I really am. If my next IVF doesn't work out, and I go to a different RE (which is the current plan), one of my reasons for saying see-ya to my current clinic will definitely be the stupid financial department.
Sorry, but not many people I know fully grasp the insult-to-injury that comes with dealing with billing errors associated with fertility treatment... so thanks for listening!

Can you do the math in black and white and highlight her error? I'd also make it known that's a large factor in the reason you're leaving.
Sorry this battle doesn't end and rears itself in the most ridiculous of ways. Hopefully it can be resolved quickly and she can see things are amiss.
Your billing complaint makes mine seem minor. What happens at my office is that I get a bill for a few of the u/s and b/w and then the next day I get a typed letter telling me my bill is overdue. When I called she told me 'oh those letters get printed automatically I don't know what they even say!!' WTF?
I hope you get your $1000 straightened out - maybe you can meet with them face-to-face to work it out. Or complain to your RE.
as if this isn't hard enough already.....

Yes -- I've tried that. And the insurance company also spelled it out in one of the letters they sent. You'd think she'd realize that if we paid the extra $1000 we'd actually be paying MORE than they charged... but she doesn't.
Me = lean PCOS;DH = poor morphology (3%)

That stinks, I hope someone over at the office can explain to this person how to do math!
This reminds me: Have any of you seen the math problems floating around facebook? I am no mathamatition (sp?), but I think I may need to unfriend some people for the answers they are posting!
