I think I might be doing this... I was testing with an IC because we wanted to have a couple drinks tonight, and there *may* be so faint a line that I can't even always see it.
It's 12 dp trigger, 10 dpo, and I'm quite sure AF is trying to break through the Endometrin. I refuse to get excited about this phantom line because I think I'm just pretending it into existence.
After much prodding, MH sees something there too. Ugh. Now I wish I'd waited to test.

Re: Do you ever pretend a second line?
I've done that. Although, my current batch of ICs had a barely-there-almost-invisible line even right after trigger.
And, I may be no help at all. I've been known to cover up the "Not" on a digi with my thumb.
I have definitely tried to will a line into existence many, many times... but I've never been able to. It has always been stark white, no way around it.
If you see something, however slight, that's something that has never happened to me before! I hope it's good news! FX for a good beta
Severe MFI. Me: supposedly all clear but eggs showed vacuoles.
IVF #1 January 2012, ER Jan 14th: 34R, 27M, 23F. Day 3: 18 embies still strong. Day 5: zero "good," one "fair," the rest "poor." Transferred 3. None made it to blast or to freeze. Jan 28: BFN.
Lucky IVF #2: Transferred two beautiful day three embies on St. Patrick's Day. BFP on HPT 7dp3dt. Beta 1 (14dpER)=106; Beta 2 (16dpER)=140; Beta 3 (19dpER)=264! First u/s 4.17.

What kind of test did you use? I've gone through probably 50 of the ICs and have never gotten an evap line. And yes, I've pulled them out of the trash hours later.

In my experience with the IC, you can't imagine a line. If it is negative, it is stark white. If something is there, something is there. I would keep testing and as soon as you feel like you aren't having to squint quite as much, get an FRER and test with that. It will be much more obvious (the digitals aren't as sensitive so if you have a squint-worthy line, you might not get a positive on those for a few days).
Good luck!!

This is me. Out of sight, of mind (ha, yeah right!)
I really hope you did see something there!
I wouldn't say I pretend but last cycle I really thought I saw the faintest line. I'm still here so we all know how that ended up.
I really hope this is it for you. I'll be checking in all weekend for you update. Fingers crossed!

Sarah I hope this is it for you!!
That being said, I've imagined many a line. I can always see where the line "should be" and then imagine that it's not grey but colored. Sigh.
