Austin Babies

Really tired after shots. :(

She's a little warm and really sleepy.  She seems to be in a good mood though.  Yesterday at her 1 year she got the chicken pox vaccine, flu booster, hep A and MMR.  I gave her some advil this morning and am hoping she'll feel better soon.

This is common or normal, right?

  • Sorry :( It's so hard on mama when they don't feel well!

This was normal for DS. The older he's gotten, the less of a reaction he's had to shots, but he definitely seems to sleep more.

  • Yes, she'll be feeling better soon.  M almost always ran a low grade temp after shots.  The advil should help.
  • Thanks, girls.  I appreciate it.  I am supposed to leave today for the weekend.  She's staying with her grandma.  I would love it if y'all would tell me I have to stay home.  TIA.
  • Nothing wrong with staying home to baby your baby :)

    SWEET.

Now will you call and explain to my DH?  TIA, again!

  • Gladly! No one can take care of her like her mama can!! (but I'm sure your mom will do a fabulous job)

  • I think it's normal to be feeling yucky after getting shots, but I'd keep a close eye on her in case the tiredness turns into something more serious. Did your pedi recommend the ibuprofen? Ours recommends holding off if we can because it can mask reaction symptoms that would need more immediate attention.

I agree. Especially avoid tylenol as it sucks all the sulphur out of the liver within 2 minutes and your body needs it to detox itself after vaccination.  You can mix some turmeric in with her food, it will help with inflammation from the immune response. Also, lots of antioxidants will help move things out and through her system.  A green smoothie low in sugar will help. Avoid sugar if possible as it depletes the immune system. Veggies, protein and healthy fats will all help :)
