Re: second tri workout tips??

  • You can keep doing the elliptical for sure, just make sure you start out easy. You should be able to talk easily and not be out of breath, and your heart rate should stay below 140 or so (give or take, this is a bit controversial). You can keep lifting too, but maybe more light weight with higher reps. You shouldn't strain or hold your breath at all - just keep it low key. BTW, yoga classes are waaay better than the DVDs IMHO. Good luck, and definitely keep working out!

  • My prenatal yoga class is the highlight of my week! But it was a bit challenging to find the ideal class & teacher. If I miss a class I can really feel it in my body. And I practice a bit on my own in front of the TV a couple other days a week (to help with that boredom issue).  I'm a runner but since I've been prego I've decided to stick with fast walking - hills & trails and some treadmill. I found it tough at the beginning to slow down my workouts overall and get into my groove but now at 31.5 weeks I'm so happy with my yoga & walking routine! I've gained about 17 pounds and hope to keep total weight gain around 25lbs (I'm 5' 9").

You'll find your groove! Good luck!

  • I love crossfitmoms.com.  Make sure if you are unfamiliar with the move to have a trainer assist you first but its an awesome and quick workout!!

  • You can basicly do what you did before. I wouldnt lift heavy weight. there is no need to. listen to your body. Do the talk test. if you cant talk you are working to hard.

at this point, you shouldnt lay on your back when you workout. make sure you are at an angle.

yoga is great but there are ones out there that are sleepy. probally good for the very end. I liked crunch yoga mama.

these are the dvds I liked.

Element: Prenatal & Postnatal Yoga- Elena Brower. 30 minutes prenatal yoga practice.

Crunch Yoga Mama-Sue Elkind. 40 Minute prenatal yoga practice.
Prenatal Yoga- Shiva Rea. 60 minute prenatal yoga DVD.
Denise Austin: Fit & Firm Pregnancy-20 minute cardio, 20 minute toning.
Summer Sander's Prenatal Workout- Divided into 3 trimesters. Each workout uses the identical format: an extended warm-up, a mix of varied (mostly standing) exercises and a long, soothing stretch. About 40 minutes.
