Hi there! I just got diagnosed with GD about 2 weeks ago. Started the diet and the 4x a day blood monitoring. So far my after meal numbers are perfect, but my am fasting numbers need help. I typically get home from work around 7:15 and eating dinner by 7:30. It's already hard for me to stay up the 2 hrs to test my blood and then go to bed. So I can't get in my evening snack (at least during the week) Weekends, I'm fine. Any suggestions?

Can't you just have your snack right after you test at two hours? That snack can definitely affect your fasting numbers and if you can't get your fasting numbers under control, it might mean insulin... so I would definitely do what I can to work in that snack.
For me, my evening snack is KEY to getting good morning numbers. I test 1 hour post meal. I have to be 130 or less. Why don't you try that? (I also have the option of testing 2 hours post, at 120 or less).
Snack... I eat it as late as possible. I literally take it to bed, and take my last bite before I turn out the lights. If I eat it too early, my am numbers are off the charts.
I tried an experiment last week b/c I have horrible "wake me up gagging" acid reflux. I ate my snack at 830 pm (bedtime around 10/10:30) to see if my numbers were better and my reflux was better. Reflux improved, but I was at 97-108 every morning as a result. This week, I switched back to 9:30 pm, and my levels have been 62 - 82 in the morning. As for the reflux, I am taking my meds at night now (as opposed to am) and that has fixed the problem.
I read on a web-site that the ideal time to test for tasting is around 9 hours post evening snack... and if I stick to that i"m good.
I find that GD is a lot of tweaking and experimenting to get the right combo. I think it has taken me 4 weeks to figure out what the perfect combos. are for me. Try out some other strategies to see if it helps, and good luck!
Right now they have been in the high 90's, low 100's. Dr says that too high.
