Is acupuncture a method of relaxation while in labor? I know it sounds crazy, but when I was being poked for my epi, it was helping me relax. I've never tried acupuncture and I'm sure the experience is much different, but I'm open to new things.
Not sure about during labor, but when I had it done to induce labor it was certainly relaxing. I know acupressure points can be used during labor for relaxation.
Yes, some women use acupuncture during labor. I have a chronic pain condition and have used acupuncture in the past for pain relief. Some acupuncturist will put "tacks" in your ears that can stay in place for up to a week for pain relief. If it's something you're interested in you should contact an acupuncturist and talk with them. Maybe have a couple of sessions before hand so you know if it works for you.
