Thank you so much for checking up on me! It means a lot to me. I was just coming on to update.
We had an appointment with Cheryl yesterday, and my instincts were right - she was not getting nearly enough food. My supply is not enough, so Cheryl has me breastfeeding, supplementing with formula then pumping for more stimulation since Lainey isn't giving me enough because there's not enough milk (she's exhausting herself just trying to get a little out). I hate having to supplement, just the four feedings with done with the formula have produced a totally different baby. A baby I can look at and not be terrified of. She slept soundly, when she's awake she's calm and alert unless she's hungry. I'm so hoping all the pumping will increase my supply. I want to exclusively breastfeed so very much. I'm thinking of renting a hospital grade pump from Special Edition for a month or so to help with this - is this a good idea?
That's great news! Even if you didn't want to supplement with formula, at least you have a clear plan and that can really help your sanity (sounds like it already is). I would definitely rent the hospital pump if you can. It's much more powerful than the regular pumps on the market. So glad to hear your baby is happier, too! Keep up the good work and definitely don't give up on your goal of exclusively breastfeeding. Plenty of mamas have needed to supplement in the beginning but then have been able to switch back to just the breast. You're doing a great job!
