IVF and sperm sample

Gals who have done IVF...

When is the sperm sample required on ER day? 

Has anyone ever had their DH provide a sample at home?  I only live 10 min from the hospital, so I'm wondering whether this is even possible.  I plan to ask them tomorrow, but of course I'm sitting here worrying about everything right now.

We did ours at home - we're only 5-10 minutes away from the office.  We took it with us when we arrived and they took it right when we got there.

This was on ER day right?  We're going to have DS with us that day, so if we could do it at home, I think it would be ideal for everyone.   Did they give you a specific time frame that it had to arrive there, like within 30 min or something?

yeah, It was 30 minutes before my scheduled ER.   They didn't make a big deal about how long the sample was collected before we go there - we just left our house as soon as it was collected.   On another note though - my office was strict about no children being allowed for ER and ET.   Its the only time they request people do not bring their children to the office.  You might want to ask about that too.

We did this. We actually had to provide in clinic samples for the IUI's, but because they have a new lab for IVF and the "collection room" was not yet soundproofed (I tried not to think too much about that) they have people collect at home for IVF. Good luck!!

This is my answer, too.  My clinic didn't offer an at-home option, but we live too far away to have taken it even if it had been offered.

Mine has a similar policy but we live so far away we always do ours in office anyway.

In all cases, my clinic allows the sample to be done at home but in the case of IVF, the donor must bring it in himself.
