Trying to Get Pregnant

If you have a vehicle with third row seating

Can you recommend yours? We are car shopping this weekend and I'd like any positive recommendations on vehicles. We have narrowed down our choices to either the Honda Pilot or the Chevy Traverse, but if anyone has suggestions I'd love them since I'm coming up short.

Thanks ladies!

Re: If you have a vehicle with third row seating

  • I don't have one, but we rented the Traverse a few years ago to drive to Maryland and LOVED it. My sister has the Mazda CX9 and RAVES about it.

  • I've heard GREAT things about the Traverse. My mom has one and it rides great and she's had no problems so far.  I have a Dodge Journey and they also have an optional 3rd row seating. Wonderful car as well. I have more of the "basic" version, but it still has nice amenities.

  • I can't give you any info on the traverse or the pilot, but we just got a Dodge Journey a couple months ago and it has third row seats. I didn't even know it existed until we started looking  - anyway, we really like it, price was good, good safety rating and insurance rates, decent on gas (~22 city, 26 hwy). Just thought I'd throw that out there for you - have fun car shopping!

  • I don't have either model that you listed, but I do have a GMC Acadia which is very similar to the Traverse on the interior.  It is amazing!  Mine has the power folding third row which is super convenient when I need more trunk space, as well as just about every other feature.  We bought it used with about 20,000 miles on it for a great price.  I think it is really the perfect family car.  I get 25 mpg on average, and I do a combo of city and highway driving.

    Thanks ladies!

We have a Tahoe with a third seat.
  • We had a Nissan Pathfinder.. it was a great vehicle. but sadly after reaching 100k, everything seemed to go wrong. Now we have a Nissan Altima Coupe, its a great car but not much room. We will be shopping for a new family vehicle as soon as we get pregnant.  Good luck with car shopping! Its so much fun!

  • We have a Kia Sorento that has a third row seating option.  We love it, great on fuel and great finishes inside.  Kia also has a great warranty.

  • We have a Mazda CX-9 and it's been great so far.  Best thing about it was the 0% financing.  It's also recommended by Consumer Reports.

  • I have the traverse, and it has been a great car so far! Plenty of room for rear facing car seats. Also, I usually keep both the umbrella stroller and jogging stroller in the back (with the third seat down) and I still have room for groceries and what not. We love it.

  • Thanks everyone!! I'm off to do some googling now. Hopefully this will give us a few more options!

  • Toyota Highlander.  We have a Toyota Rav4, which we love (the Rav4 comes with 3rd row seating, but I probably wouldn't get it b/c I think the car is too small for a 3rd row).  Our friends have a Highlander with the 3rd row.  It's very nice and it's what we'll get if/when we're ready to upgrade.
  • We test drove the Traverse, the Acadia, the Highlander, the Venza, the Equinox and the Terrain. Seriously, it felt like we drove everything. In the end, we decided to get another Mercedes wagon just because we knew it was reliable and we were comfortable with our experiences before. They have the third row in the trunk - the old school rear facing ones. I like that b/c it is easier for people to get in and out, in my opinion. No jigging around with other seats, etc.

  • We have a Traverse and I absolutely LOVE it. It's a great people hauler, grocery getter--we even take it to the lumber yard! We haul our boat with it, camp out of it...you name it, we do it with the Traverse. I LOVE mine!!

My poor husband hates it, lol. He doesn't even like talking about it. The last time we bought a new car we were there all day and I thought he was going to go crazy, lol. Hoping this time isn't like last!

  • I have a Honda Pilot and it has been hands down the best vehicle I have ever had.  I love it!  We usually keep the third row folded down to use the back for groceries and such.  The second row has a ton of leg room and I have used the 3rd row a few times and it's not so bad back there.  Ours has about 80,000 miles on it now and I haven't had any problems at all with it.

  • We have a Honda Pilot with 3rd row seating.  LOVE IT.  Plenty of room for double stroller and other types of gear even with 3rd row seat in place.  It also has a tone of family friendly options you can add on, but the standard package is also pretty decent!

I also loved the Traverse, so I think both are great options!  HTH and have fun car shopping!!

  • We have a 2010 Honda Pilot and LOVE it.  The Pilot model changed in 2010 (I think) so it's bigger than the previous models.

I wished it had options for captain seats in the second row like the Highlander, but it's bigger than the highlander.  Also the 2010 highlander didn't offer the 30/60 seats like the Pilot did.  I think the 2011 Highlander has that now...but it's still smaller.

  • Kia Sorrento, I have the 2011 which I absolutely ADORE and the 2012 comes with air conditioned seats!!! Love Stick out tongue
  • We just bought a used, low mileage 2007 Chrysler Aspen.  We absolutely love it!  It is apparently being re-designed, and not available in 2011/2012, but if you can find a used one, the price was definitely right and we got an amazing vehicle.  Seats 8.

  • I've heard really great things about the Acadia. One of my friends has one and she absolutely loves it. We have the bmw x5 and it's also great. It rides like a champ and has a ton of room.

  • I don't have either but I do have a ford explorer with the 3rd row and my sister has a chevy tahoe with the 3rd row. I have lots of room in my car. Sits 7 with seat belts. but a 3rd could technically fit in the 3rd row. I have only used the 3rd row a few times but the room is amazing. My sister just got her truck and loves it so far. Tons of room (much more than mine) hers sits 6 (captain chairs for front & middle, then bench for 3rd row).

    I recommend both :)

    Happy Hunting!
