I got the official negative beta. I scheduled a WTF with my RE for next Thurs. I'm really not sure that he going to have any answers as to why IVF is not working for us. But I feel that I need to talk to him both to hear if he has any suggestions for add'l tests and for some closure.
I'm able to change insurance coverage for the new year. There is an option that is much more expensive than what I'm paying now (~5K more over the course of the year) but it covers 3 IVFs. The kicker is that my RE is not a preferred provider - so I'll have to travel to the next city over (about 1 hr drive) to go to an RE that is covered. Obviously this is worth it for even 1 IVF cycle. So no matter what my current RE says - I'm not staying there. Essentially I have to take my second opinion as my new clinic. I am hopeful because in the support group at my office we just had 3 girls that switched to this other clinic get pregnant via IVF recently. I know that they are much more open to doing a 5dt and they also do PGD there. So basically my plan is to set up a consult there for the first week in January. I'm guessing that the earliest we'll cycle again would be Feb/March.
I'm not looking forward to the holidays and not being pregnant again. But I am looking forward to having a break from shots, birth control, b/w, appts., etc. for a bit.
Thanks for all your support ladies.

SAIF Always Welcome
Awesome! At least you can bring in the new year on good foot and have some hope again.
It sounds great that you're going to get some new insurance and help with cycling, too.
While I know waiting to cycle isn't fun it will hopefully help you be more receptive to the meds without having to substantially increase your dosage. I never really thought about that, until this cycle when my dosage was increased and it cut one day from my stims, but didn't make more follies.
I love your fighting spirit and hope 2012 is your year - and all of ours.
I'll be saying good riddance to 2011.
TTC since March/April 2010

After nearly 3 years of waiting our LO was born December 18th 2012!
I am so, so sorry once again about the failed cycle, hootie.
It's amazing that you can get better IF coverage, though! At least that's a tiny silver lining, right? It also sounds like the new clinic you'll be switching to offers options to make sure the best embryos are being transferred next time -- the 5dt is so valuable for that, IMO.
Try to enjoy the holidays -- I know it's going to be incredibly hard. At least you won't have to wake up for any vag cam appointments for a while
Like I said already, if you need to vent, I am here!

I know - you know how hard it is when IVF doesn't even work. Its scary! My one friend went to this clinic after 4 failed IVFs at my clinic - and is now pregnant with triplets from her first IVF there. So she is excited I'm going there now (but I don't want triplets!).

I think there is an emotional downward-spiral-of-doom that happens when even IVF doesn't work. It's awful.
The new clinic sounds really promising (and I bet if you make it clear you don't want triplets, they won't do anything that could result in triplets). I'm very curious to hear the suggestions you get from your current doc, and from the new one!

I've been trying to do that, unsuccessfully, at work. They are everywhere. I caught myself giving one a dirty look yesterday, and I felt horrible! So if you figure out a way to do it, let me know what it is

I'm sorry about the negative beta.
I hope that this new clinic works out great for you. It's definitely worth the extra drive if you can get some more IF coverage by going there. And knowing girls that had success there makes it even better!
Best of luck to you, Hootie.
It depends on who you work for. I work someplace that has a huge offering of insurances - and there is only one that has any IVF coverage. Other employers may only offer one choice to their employees. There are definitely insurances that have coverage though. You may want to look into it - since its the time of year where there is typically an open-season to switch companies.

After reading blueberries' ET story over on IF I really believe that 5dt is the way to go. Of course you can never know for sure -- because being in the medium may negatively affect their growth -- but still, that was a pretty compelling anecdote to say the least.
Anyway, I wish you the best of luck with your cycle. The wait sucks, but the change sounds really positive -- if the new clinic was able to get your friend KU the first cycle there, maybe they really know their stuff when it comes to matching the right people with the right protocols.
I'll be rooting for you in Feb/March! And feeling your pain on the long commute -- I will probably be driving 2 hours each way to the RE from here on out.
Severe MFI. Me: supposedly all clear but eggs showed vacuoles.
IVF #1 January 2012, ER Jan 14th: 34R, 27M, 23F. Day 3: 18 embies still strong. Day 5: zero "good," one "fair," the rest "poor." Transferred 3. None made it to blast or to freeze. Jan 28: BFN.
Lucky IVF #2: Transferred two beautiful day three embies on St. Patrick's Day. BFP on HPT 7dp3dt. Beta 1 (14dpER)=106; Beta 2 (16dpER)=140; Beta 3 (19dpER)=264! First u/s 4.17.

I agree that blueberries story was really interesting. The entire 3 vs. 5 day is so complicated and dependent on so many factors. But really what matters is that it works in the end and since a 3 day has yet to work for me - I definitely want to try a 5 day.
So you are definitely going to the new RE? Luckily my husband has a newer car with 4wd since I'm worried about doing this during the winter.

I'm switching to Strong. But CNY is an option on this insurance- but I think for IVF you have to go to Syracuse for ER and ET. If for some reason I'm not happy with what Strong tells me - I may go to CNY for a consult.
