How do you keep your LO entertained/busy the rest of the day? DD not only is a 30 min napper but also an early riser (530-6a). So our days are loooong. And honestly, TV has been a a huge help. I have Sesame Street and Dora episodes in the DVR.
Mine used to nap for 30 minutes at a time but thankfully he's now to a good nap schedule. I also have a super early riser.
Play-Doh in the highchair, outings (if you can swing it with two babes) to the park, museum, zoo, or other activities.
That was my saving grace: Activities. Get him interested in something. I love taking my son to the childrens' museum. He gets going on an activity and I am able to actually SIT.

Wow - that's a short nap. How many naps per day (I'm assuming just one)? Our LO did better when we moved to one nap a day. He's a pro now and goes down for 1 1/2 - 2 hours. Prior to that, it was so hit or miss and there were days when he hardly napped at all. Something shifted (thankfully). Our LO is a super early riser, too (we're lucky if he makes it to 5; he usually starts stirring at 4:30 each day).
I understand the draw to television but television may be jazzing your LO up, too, making it harder for you to do the nap thing. Just a thought.
