Green poop??

Sorry if this is TMI but I wanted to see if anyone elses LO ever had green poop?

DD has had very green poop for 3 days now (about 10 diapers FULL) not just brown with a tint of green but seriously GREEN.  She had green beans last night but only a few bites and it was the first time in a few days she has had green veggies.  I tried to look it up online but I'm not finding much.  I called her pedi but her dr isn't there today so the woman is going to talk with one of the other drs and call me back.  I'm so nervous about what it could be. She hasn't really slept in 3 nights either so that makes me even more nervous.

So has anyone experienced this?

Re: Green poop??

  • DS gets it every now & then.  I know some fruits & veggies can change poop color - for example grapes will turn poop green.  Whenever DS has them - his poop will be VERY green - not just flecks - entirely green!  As long as it's not white, red or black you should be fine.  I don't remember why some fruits & veggies do this, but that is what one of our nurses told us. (she gave us a reason, I just can't remember).

  • I accidently gave Cole one bottle of milk that was off.  He had giant army green poops that day.  Maybe check your milk.  The only way I noticed the milk was off was that it separated when I put it in my coffee, but it was definitely enough to upset his tummy.

  • are you still nursing? foremilk will produce green poop, also at a young age with new foods, the poop will come out the color it goes in! even at 19 months when LO eats too many blueberries they strain his butt if he's not changed immediately! lol
