We're on the go a tremendous amount and Baby Bargains has convinced me to avoid a travel system. We have no idea what stroller we will end up with, but one of our considerations is the Peg Skate. I like the 2008 skate, but we're waiting to see exactly what the 2009 will be like since it's supposed to be lighter and have better features.
My biggest problem with the Skate (besides not being sure if I want to spend that much $ on a stroller) is that it only takes the Peg's car seat, the primo viaggio. Reviews seem to really like it or hate it. It's definitely heavier and bulkier than most, and the price is high- $249 at BRU but we'd try to find it cheaper online. The 2nd base alone is another $75.
If the car seat were cheaper and more highly reviewed, I would probably be ready to buy the Skate. I know we've got months to decide, but I'm having fun obsessing and would welcome other thoughts!
Re: Peg Perego Skate stroller... Any thoughts?
If I could use the mico carseat with the skate I would've been sold. I hate the Peg carseat and refused to use it. It's something like 11-12 pounds empty, no thank you.
We ended up with Mico carseat and Quinny Buzz.
We played with the skate b/c i really wanted it, but I didn't like it in person. It is HUGE and HEAVY!!! If you are going to spend that much, buy the bugaboo or orbit.
I think I am getting the 2009 Uppababy Vista.
I'm looking at the Chicco Cortina - their Keyfit carseat was rated highly by consumer reports. So I'm thinking if I'm going frm car to stroller often that might be a good choice. The stroller incl. the seat weighs in at 22 lbs.
For lightweight I would probably check out the Maclaren strollers. The Volo is 9 lbs. Maclaren is the brand I see most in the park so I'm guessing it's great for non drivers who spend most of their time navigating city sidewalks with their strollers.
