Tantrums?

W is obsessed with cords, and also the dvd player and ps3. I generally would tell her no, and she would stop.  This is not working anymore, so I have been picking her up and removing her from the situation.  She will then fling herself backwards and start screaming.

This is normal? Also, diaper changes have been a nightmare for quite some time still. She will flip over onto her stomach. If I try to restrain her, she just gets more p!ssed. What am I doing wrong?

Re: Tantrums?

  • My baby likes cords too. When there is no way to hide the cords, I usually put something in front of them. I have my toddler's big ball in front of some cords so she plays with that instead.

As far as diaper changes, have special "diaper changing" toys by your changing table.Tell her no. Mine likes to do random stuff too & I tell her no. She cries, of course, but gets over it.

If you can, get a long mirror & set it up to where it lines up with the changing table. This will give her something to do while getting the diaper off.

  • The mirror sounds like a very good idea, thank you! I never thought of that. She is generally fixated by her beauty when she looks in the bathroom mirror. lol. This may work, thanks!

  • No help with the tantrums.  But, we have handheld mirror toy that we give DS during diaper changes.  That usually helps.  Usually.

That's what we did for my first(can't now since table is by a window). She loved looking at herself & seeing what I was doing all at once!

  • You are not alone! My 10 month old just started with the protest tantrums in the past two weeks when he doesn't get his way.
