how to child proof faucet handle for hot water?

my son has been washing his hands on his own and the other day I caught him using JUST the hot water. I explained to him that he can only use cold but I would like to find a way to lock the hot handle if possible?

  • We turned the shut-off off for the hot.  I have forgotten when we have guests since they use that bathroom too.  We also turned down the cold so it can't come out as fast because he will try and flood the bathroom.

  • We just turned down the temperature on our hot water heater so that it isn't at scalding levels.
  • hmmm - DD turns on the hot and cold herself.  She basically does a trickle of hot and a blast of cold.  Sometimes she'll say its too cold and turn it up.  If I do it for her, I tend to overdo the hot and she yells its hot and moves her hands.

  • Generally you can lower the thermostat on the hot water heater.

Also I have seen something, but only for the tub, where the water shuts off if the temp gets too hot.

    And recently I saw this - https://www.amazon.com/Chrome-Faucet-Light-Sensitive-Changing/dp/B0015PWOK8
