Diff between 4t and size 4?

I'm trying to order my daughter a coat on lands end.  The one I'd like to order does not come in toddlers but does start with a little girl's size 4.  I compared measurements between a size 4 and the 4t and there is hardly any difference.  In fact most of the measurements are practically identical.  Do you notice a difference in fit between a size 4 and a 4T?

TIA

Re: Diff between 4t and size 4?

  • The only difference that I noticed is price.  For example... Last year I went to buy my DD a  size 4T swimsuit from Walmart it was like $10 and for a size 4 swimsuit it was like $15.

  • According to Gymboree the 4T is shorter and fatter, the 4 is taller and leaner.  In pants, the 4T is still leaving room for a diaper...

  • Usually 4 is a little bigger than 4T, but I imagine it varies from brand to brand.

  • You are right. My guys are 5t and the little boys small at LE is too small. The medium is a bit big.

  • I only find a difference in pants. Size 4 seem to be slimmer and longer than 4T. For tops and jackets I have started buying size 4. I loved when I am looking at clearance sales on Childrens Place or Carters if I can't find the top I want in 4T, I can usually find it in size 4.

For a coat I would go with the size 4.

  • There isn't much difference at all. DD can wear both but I've found that the pants are a little longer. With shirts there's almost no difference at all. You'd be fine with the 4
