There were some key local issues here that didn't go the way I hoped. 

A bar just opened up in our neighborhood only 15 feet from the library branch.  (I have no idea what the landlord was thinking!)  The bar owners put an initiative on the ballot & voters granted them the right to serve liquor from 10am to midnight every day of the week. 

Yeah, I want to take my son past drunk people to get to story time.  UGH!
