Huggies Overnights Users - hard clumps in new diapers?

ETA: I'm talking about new, DRY, not worn yet diapers.

The last 2 packs of Hugges ON I bought had hard, pebble like clumps in them - more concentrated toward the rear of the diaper. (I'm assuming it was hard clumps of the absorbent gel stuff that under the clothlike part of the diaper.) Jack was complaining of itching and I finally noticed these hard, almost pointy clumps and thought my God it's like sleeping on pointy rocks, no wonder he was complaining!  Anybody else noticed this lately?  For me it seemed to be the newer packs - the diapers are tinged more blue-ish than they were before.

We're using a pack of Pampers right now for overnight use - and they're holding up fine - but I always liked the Huggies ON until I noticed this issue.  I *don't* think it was always the case -  I never noticed them being anything but soft before so I think it's just a recent issue.  Let me know if you've noticed also - these were size 5 packs.  Thanks!

  • were the clumps present before he even wore the diapers? I've noticed some lumps in them in the morning when they're full of pee but I don't think I've noticed them when they're fresh.

Oh no, these are brand new, dry, not worn yet diapers I'm talking about!  Again I think it's just clumps of the absorbent gel that isn't supposed to be all clumped up and hard in a dry diaper - but yet - it is!  At least in the 2 most recent packs I bought (and it was EVERY diaper, I checked!)

  • Ours are size 6. I just checked a bunch of them and I didn't notice anything odd. I'm going to have to check the next box we get in a few weeks though!

  • OMG I thought it was just the pack I purchased! You too? Man & DD can't really complain since she's so young, but I wondered if it was uncomfortable. In hers, the clumps are concentrated towards the front top of the diaper, where the tabs are attached to the diaper. And I'm annoyed too b/c I just bought a whole new pack of size 4's...I'm about to open them up & see if these have the same issue. Maybe we should call Huggies?

ETA: the pack I noticed them in were size 3's.

  • I just checked the size 4's I bought today & they do have hard clumps, but they are not quite AS hard & def smaller than the ones I noticed int he size 3's.

Sounds like should.  I mean imagine trying to sleep with hard pointy pebbles in your underwear?!  Geez louise.
