Anyone who has already given birth can you please share what the hospital/doctor bills were for the labor & delivery? Trying to get an estimate - Providence Park Novi is where I'll be, but any in the area would be helpful. Thanks!!
Your best bet is to start making some phone calls. What you have to pay is going to depend greatly on the type of insurance coverage you have. I've heard of people paying $0 and others paying thousands. Even then, it's hard to get a good estimate since you never know what type of complications might arise (hopefully none).

There's a cost estimator in my insurance portal that we use, but if yours doesn't have one I am sure you can call and ask.
Before insurance a vaginal delivery usually runs around $10-$15k and a csection can be $25-$30k. It all depends on what interventions/staff/etc are required.
I know people who just paid a $5 co pay and others who have paid thousands. I think after all was said and done we payed $1500 for the birth of DS out of pocket.

I'm not much help since I"ll be delivering at PPN early next year, but I just assume I'll be paying my max out of pocket for the year (which I believe is $500 or $1000) since I'm certain it won't cost less than that.
I delivered there last June. I had a vaginal delivery with an epidural. The total from my insurance claims totaled about $18,000. My insurance covered 100%.
I paid nothing out of pocket everything was 100% covered ....induction with C-section and complications on my bill = $30,000 plus 4 post op appointments but I don't recall the amounts of those particular bills.
Good Luck!!

Madelyn's unplanned c-section was $17000. I had paid for everything before her birth out of pocket (crazy high deductible) which was about $3000. I didn't pay anything out of pocket for her birth. I don't know what the bills were after she was born since I had already hit my max out of pocket.
I delivered at Oakwood in Dearborn in 2006. Total bill was $43,000 for an induction and un-planned c-section with no complications for either of us. I only had to pay $200 with insurance.
Thank you very much. That is exactly what I was looking for as I know my insurance coverage % & deductible - now I can better estimate how much to put in flexible spending.
To be honest with you- the cost out of pocket is pretty much determined by your health insurance coverage. Every company, plan is different in which they cover. I was induced a week early, was not dilating past a 4 -had to have an emergency c -section, had complications and had to spend the first night in ICU. The hospital bill alone was close to $50,000- I delivered out of Royal Oak Beaumont in Aug 2010. I was a Beaumont employee at the time and had the best insurance plan they provided, I paid $0 for everything. Had a few post op visits afterwards as well, however was not billed for post op, my doctor told me its included in the labor and delivery cost. If you are really concerned my best advice would be to talk to your doctor as well as your insurance company to give you a better understanding what kind of cost you may be looking at

Point is - it varies considerably!
