So my DD had her 6 month checkup on monday and she is 28 inches long. The Dr. said that she is in the 99th percentile. I seem to remember that a lot of May mommas said their babies were 28in. Do we really have so many tall babies or are there different charts for percentiles? Anyone else have a 28in baby and have the Dr. tell you a different percentile?

Re: percentiles ?
There are two (primary) growth charts for kiddos birth to 36 months. One for boys and for girls. (There are some other growth charts for different syndromes and even for some different cultures) They are fairly easy to use -- just follow the "coordinates" as if reading a map. The top half is height, lower half is weight. On the baby girl chart, you can easily see that your daughter would be a little greater than the 97%, so yep -- I would agree she's at the 99th. Tall girl!
I actually have one printed off and in my son's baby book to track his trends whenever we go to a well baby checkup.
You can see them here:
Girls
Boys
We had ours today...
height- 27" (90th %)
weight- 16.11 (65th)
head- 44.5cm (95th)- no laughing!
Looks like we have a bunch of tall babies!
DD was 28 in at her 4 month apt and pedi said she is >99th percentile. It's also the least accurate of the growth measurements, but that is what the nurse measured her at and recorded.
FWIW, I'm 5'10 and DH is 6'4 so it's not surprising DD is long. DS is very tall, too.
We had our 6 month today
head = 47 cms off the chart
height = 28.7" off the chart
weight = 20.9lbs 90%
We don't have her 6 month appointment until the 21st.
However, at the 4 month appointment she was 24 inches (50%) and 12.5 lbs (under the 25%) I can't see her being more than 26 inches though, because her 3-6 month clothes (especially the pants) are still REALLY big on her.
