It won't make you go into labor but it does help to ripen your cervix. My midwife suggested taking 3 1000 mg pills orally and a 4th vaginally at night starting at 36 weeks.
I am new to this...you insert into vagina? Is it in drop form when you do this?
My mom is traveling here, 2000 miles away for babies birth..so I want to try to have it happen during the two weeks she is here..maybe I will try to 'ripen'
It won't start labor. It may or may not ripen the cervix. Nothing is goingvto happen if your body isn't ready to go into labor. It's the semen from having sex that helps, FYI not just sex.

My midwife cleared me to begin taking EPO today. She instructed me to take 3 1000mg capsules either by mouth or inserting them vaginally at nighttime. This is my first time trying EPO, so I am uncertain if it will work or not.
Well, I didn't insert the capsule last night because we ended up just having sex and this morning I lost what I believe to be most of my MP, woot!!! With DS, I lost my mucus plug around 37 weeks and still didn't go into labor until 40 so I'm not going to be to get too excited but I'll give the capsules a try for tonight! Wish me luck!!
I tried it for a few weeks with DS. No effect whatsoever on my cervix. I think I inserted a few capsules a night for 4 weeks or so. However, I am trying it again this time so I guess I haven't given up the hopes that maybe it works! Neither doctor I told thinks it does anything but said it couldn't hurt.
