Anyone have heart palpitations?

Every once in a while, I have heart palpitations. It feels like my heart is beating out of my chest and skips beats. I have had an EKG before and it is always fine. I do have anxiety but this doesn't feel like a panic attack. Anyone else experience this? I have a drs appt for Friday but jeesh it feels so weird.

Re: Anyone have heart palpitations?

  • I get them all the time.  I've had tests done before too, and everything is always normal.  They freak me out, but they always go away.  I had more while I was pg, and I think it was the extra amount of blood.

  • I get them too.  If they continue they want me to wear a halter monitor.  Hope that they can help reduce your anxiety.

  • I do if I'm taking decongestants regularly. When I lived in austin, I had to take Zyrtec-d religiously, and I figured out it was causing them (and a max heart rate of 203 while running - not good).

I've been off them for about a year, and it's helped. If we move back, I'll switch to allergy shots to avoid all of that.

  • I will get like that sometimes if I a) have had too much caffeine, or b) take two benedryl. I hope that it doesn't end up being anything serious for you!

Thanks~ I'm sure it's just stress? I haven't had a lot of caffeine (1 coke today) or any allergy meds so stress is the only thing I can pinpoint it to.

    Ditto.

Taking decongestants at stressful times will give me a full on panic attack.  The can't breathe, heart pounding, feel like you're gonna die kind.

  • i've only had them due to my being hyperthyroid. but they were accompanied by other symptoms - hand tremors, feeling too warm all the time, sudden weight loss (muscle, not fat, unfortunately), nervousness/feeling wired.
