Stroller question

We have a Maclaren stroller for my 2 year old, and are planning to take that to Disney later this week.  My 4 1/2 year old hasn't been in a stroller in years, and we were planning to see how the first day goes, and play it by ear if we rent a stroller at the park for him to use.  Someone just offered to give me a Baby Trend sit and stand stroller, which I need to pick up before our trip. Not sure the exact model.  Any experiences with those strollers, and how much of a pain they are to push?  DS #1 is over 50 lbs, and #2 is about 34.  If I have it, #1 will want to ride in in some of the time.

Re: Stroller question

  • Your older DS will absolutely need a stroller in Disney World.  It is hot, crowded and just overall tiring.  My 6 year old still used one this year.  I prefer my double umbrella over my sit 'n stand because it is a lot easier to fold and carry.  I can't stand trying to get the sit 'n stand around.  Oh and we loved having the stroller for the airports too...that way, we can walk at our adult speed and know right where the kids are.

ETA: The strollers you rent at the park are hard/molded plastic and my kids would not be comfortable in them.

  • I had a Joovy Sit-n-stand & it was heavy & kind of hard to maneuver. Certainly not comfortable for older kid. We rented a double for my older 2 (4 &6yrs) at WDW & my younger was in the Maclaren. I liked that they were easy to move & I didn't worry about having it stolen. My girls hopped on & off at ease & even fell asleep in it a few times. It was so worth the money to rent (we didn't on our first day & did days 2-5).
  • Use the double stroller!  We had DD (5ys) at sea world last week.  She sat in DS's snap and go and DS was in the Bjorn during the day!  She was wiped out.

Ditto the OP re: the Disney rental strollers.  They have no padding and no real sunshade on them.  They look extremely uncomfortable!
