J was up at 5:00 again this morning (or possibly earlier, that's just when I noticed on the monitor). That's three days in a row; it definitely seems like daylight savings is messing him up. He's going to sleep at his normal time (7ish) but he is exhausted at the end of the day and frankly crankier than usual in the mornings.
Any thoughts? Should we try to put him to bed earlier? Right now we put him down at 6:30 and he falls asleep shortly after 7:00. He usually sleeps until 6:30. Should we just ride it out? Daycare said he took a longer nap than usual yesterday but it's still not making up for the lost sleep.
Re: DS still waking up at 5:00 . . . any thoughts?
I notice whenever DS goes through extended periods of sleep he's either cutting a tooth (odd i know) or a developmental phase. I'd give it a few more days and see if he adjusts. My other thought would be that maybe he's coming down with a cold and he genuinely just doesn't feel good.
I think you have to give it more time (or at least that's what I am telling myself as DS has been waking up super duper early too; either that or he's going thru the 18-mo wakeful, he's 17mo)
This may be a dumb question, but have you tried getting him to go back to sleep when he wakes up at 5? If M wakes up before 5 am, we give him a paci and rub his back and try to get him to go back to sleep. It works about half the time.
Well he's just lying there in his crib, sometimes kicking the wall and whatnot. He's not crying to be let out, I'm just more worried about his lack of sleep.
Usually if we go in there and *don't* get him up (unless it's the middle of the night) that's when he gets really mad.
