I just want to know when they find time to have sex. You can't tell me all of these kids just came about without any planning on their part. Unless they are having sex like rabbits they have to be doing some type of planning. Or I guess they could just be really fertile.
She has mentioned that she gets pregnant no problem while breastfeeding which while not normally impossible, it is not usually to the degree of ease/frequency she does.
Holy cow!!!! I figured after the problems she had with the last one they would FINALLY decide to use some BC...guess not. I just hope everything goes ok this time around!
Just becasue someone has a preemie or complications they can still want to have another child...
Anyway, my parents had 2 kids. There's a 7.5 year age difference. My parents did a lot of delegating to me as well. It's just an unfortunate part of being the eldest daughter. Every family I know with older daughters delegates cooking, cleaning, and baby watching.
I'm the youngest of 3; my oldest brother is 6years my sr. My dad was a merchant marine was was hardly ever home, my mom basically raised us on her own. She never once delegated any parental responsibilities to either of my older siblings. She (& my dad when he was home) raised us & took care of us & let us be kids.
Okay, that was a little cold. What I meant to say is that as long as they can afford the NICU on their own without state assistance, then well, it's their business regardless of what I think.
Someone on my BMB mentioned that their healthcare is through the State of AK, as Jim Bob is a state legislator. So *technically* the healthcare is being financed by the state.
Though, I don't believe anyone should have the right to tell any employee how many children they should have. But I also believe that elected civil servants should be part time, as originally intended. Which would change their eligability for healthcare. That's for a different discussion.
Jim Bob is not a state legislator. He was from 1999-2002. That was
nine years ago. They pay for their health care on their own.

I liked my mom leaving my brother and I home sometimes. It taught us to be self reliant and to behave responsibly on our own. If I had two children, I can't imagine waiting until both of them were 14 to leave them alone because I am not allowed to ask one to watch out for the other. I certainly don't think everyone should make that choice, but it seems like such a weird thing to condemn a parent on. Are people confusing "look out for your younger sibling and make time to talk to them" with "be the parent to your sibling?"
I'm going to say my peace and then leave the debate, because I'm not in the mood.
#1: I don't want anyone telling me how many kids I should or shouldn't have, so I'm not going to do that to them.
#2: You can't say that you're open minded if you're only open minded to things you "get". Don't say that you support every type of family dynamic, and then say that you don't support the Duggars. They have a right to have 20 kids, just as everyone has a right to build a family however they see fit.
#3: Having a child born prematurely doesn't mean that you shouldn't have children in the future. #19 was born because the docs decided that was safer than being inside a mom with severe preeclampsia. Preeclampsia can strike anyone-- 20 years old or 40 years old.
#4: If I didn't have a tv in my house, I bet I'd have a lot more time to spend with my daughter. Not to mention, if my husband was able to work from home, that would help a lot too.
I feel like they just have babies for the fame and fortune... sad for the kids that end up raising kids, but it's their life and they do seem to really love and cherish each child. More than I can say for a lot of parents out there today I suppose!

Again, that's not at ALL why they keep having children. It's because of their religious beliefs. Keep in mind that when they started having children (with the belief that birth control was wrong and that they should have as many children as God chose to give them), there was no such thing as reality shows that followed people around in their everyday lives to put them on TV. In fact, until they were put on TV, the idea that having a lot of kids might get you on TV didn't even exist... and they weren't put on TV until they already had 14 kids and one on the way. So that would have been a pretty ridiculous (and expensive) plan for trying to get "fame and fortune," considering it had never happened before... "hey, let's have 15 children and then see if someone puts us on television in our own TV series."
