moving question

This is a double post from MN.

Has anyone ever use the u-pack moving? I know there are a few different companies that will bring those cubes to your house, then you load it up and then they move it and store it for you. Im thinking that is going to be the best thing for us for our move in Jan. I was just wondering if anyone has ever used any of the companies and what they thought of it. Thanks!

Re: moving question

  • yeah we were thinking of going with AFB I think thats what its called. PODS doesnt come to my moms house. It would just be SO much easier. Otherwise DH will have to drive the U-haul and I will drive the car with our dog and 6 month old DD for the 18 hr drive. ugh.

  • We used ABF for a PCS in March and it was a good experience. For me, doing the trailer move with them made much more sense than doing the relo-cube move with them. For one, it was cheaper for the amount of space you get. Secondly, you only have to pay for the space you use. I liked knowing that if we went over what I had estimated, we wouldn't be screwed and out of room like we would have been with the cubes. Turns out that wasn't a concern as we used 1 less foot than what we estimated--so we only ended up paying for 11 feet and not 12. I'm not sure about storage with the trailer move though as we had a base house already lined up before we moved here.

The only con is that they were 2 business days late dropping off the trailer at our new home and since we were moving over a weekend we ended up going about a week without our stuff.
