I live in Southern California. My DH and I want to buy a gift card at a retailer and slowly build a balance so when LO arrives we have diaper money. My question is where is the best place to buy diapers for the value, meaning cheapest place that I can use coupons? I have Vons, Albertsons, CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid, Costco, and plenty of other places I'm probably not thinking of.
Thanks!!
Re: Diaper question....
It depends on the brand that you plan on buying. Costco only has huggies and kirkland (the costco brand) which are made by huggies.
Walgreens has lots but they are always a bit more expensive than the other stores I've noticed becuase they don't carry the large boxes.
Walmart or Target will sometimes have sales. Target will have a sale where if you buy 2 boxes of a certain type of diapers, you will get a target gift card for $5. I've noticed that I can get diapers cheapest at Target. Mainly becuase I can use manufacturers coupons plus target coupons and get more money off, plus the sales on top of it. They also have Up&Up brand which I have used with both kids and find them to be great quality and a great price. You can also get target coupons for $1.00-1.50 off diapers.
Amazon has the best deal i've seen, if you subscribe & save and sign up for amazon moms you get 30% off, free 2-day shipping, and no tax so I would go with them. Not sure if you could buy an amazon card and load that up? Also the free 2-day shipping transfers over to other things you buy at amazon. I'm still getting free 2-day shipping and I stopped buying diapers from them almost 8mths ago! (we only stopped because dd switched to target brand) It has been so awesome for me, especially at xmas time
I third (or fourth or however many) the amazon idea. You can just put money onto your account, you don't even have to have a "gift card" and you don't have to leave the house. You can also get free two day shipping with a Prime membership. You can get prime for free for signing up with Amazon mom (then you get free shipping on ANY prime purchase, not just baby stuff) and you can extend it up to a year when you buy more baby stuff.
The savings per brand will vary, but they are almost always cheaper, and when you get the free 2 days shipping it's super easy to just say "Oh, I only have a few days of diapers left, I'll order some" and take care of it without having to run around town and get the baby ready to leave the house and run errands.
Plus even if it only saves you $2 you get free 2-day shipping on lots of prime things so if you ever shop online for other things I would definietly get them through amazon, save yourself the $2 & get awesome shipping. I just looked and for a size 4 140 count it's $26 at amazon and $33 at walmart. When you look at the price it will have a different price saying subscribe to amazon mom & get an extra 20% off.
I'd put the money in amazon since there's so many things you can get a great deal on in addition to diapers
also, there's a huge brand selection depending on what your baby likes
Just an FYI about Amazon Mom.
The prime free shipping ends after a year.
Also, Subscribe and Save is now only 20% (and does not ship 2-day). Which puts the diaper price pretty close to target+coupons.
