Hi everyone, just wondering how long you were dilated with #2 before you gave birth? I'm only 36W4D and am already 2cm and 80% effaced. I'm not quite ready and would love 2 more weeks but not sure it's in my cards. Does it go faster with #2? Please tell me how it happened for you the second time. Thanks so much!!
Re: Freaking out 2cm dilated already!!!!
With DD#2 I was 3cm dilated and 80% at 37 weeks and didn't have her until 39 1/2 weeks so you never know.
With DD#1 my water broke on my due date. I had a horrible labor/delivery with #1...I was in labor 34 hrs and had 4hrs of pushing then she was taken out by vacume. Second time around much better-had contractions at 8pm, went to hospital, was 6 cm dilated at 9pm, then had her at 6:30 the next morning after 45 min of pushing-uncomplicated. Good luck!!
At 35 weeks I was 2cm and 60%. at 37 weeks I was 4cm and 75%. I didn't go into labor until 39w4d! I wouldn't worry..it's normal for 2nd timers to dilate earlier. You can sit dilated for quite a few weeks before anything happens
for comparision, I got checked with DD1 at 38 weeks and was 2cm..stayed that way until birth at 40 weeks.

I was 3cm dilated and 80% effaced at 35 weeks with DS. I ended up being induced at 39w4d for other reasons (and I was 6cm and 90% effaced by then and still not in labor).
I am proof you can walk around very dilated and effaced for WEEKS (in my case, a month).

once real labor hit, it was FAST! but I dilated for about a month too. I was 2 for a long time (couple weeks or so) then even walked around at 4 cms for a few days. Then it was less than 2 hours of actually being in labor and she hopped out. ;-)
