Someone explain Pintrest to me

I've seen so many post about Pintrest so I had to check out.  I do NOT get it.  Do you have to actually be a member or something for it make any sense?  Too me it just looks like a crazy, hot mess.  Ridiculously random pictures of whoever and whatever.  Then, when I click on something, it doesn't really explain anything - it just shows all the comments.  Clearly, I'm missing something.

well if you're a member, you're looking at it in a more organized fashion maybe?  At least your own stuff. And you know who you're following so it appears less random. Like I follow a lot of people pinning recipes or baby things-not like wedding planning or architecture. Does that make sense? And no, it doesn't explain things, and some pins are better than others with captions. Though it should link you back to an original site that can explain.

If you want an invite despite the hot messness of it just send me your email.  I love it b/c I am always saving links and now I don't have to.

Okay, thanks for the invite, but now it's telling me that I have to sign up through facebook or twitter.  I don't have either...

hmmm...how do I do that??  I am NOT super computer smart..in case you haven't noticed. 

ETA: It says Sign up with FB or sign up with Twitter.  Then there is a little msg that says 'Why link accounts'.  When I scroll over that, a little bubble pops up that says 'We require FB and Twitter to make it easier to find people you know and to reduce spam. You can unlink your account at any time.'

Ha! The funny thing about that is that I created a fake account for the sole purpose of becoming friends with the person who made a fake account in dh's name...dh made me do it.  If only I could remember what that sign in was.....

I'm in the same boat. My sister sent me an invite yesterday (she's like Martha Stewart; she plans my holiday/party/potluck menus), so I figured I could get some good recipes from her. I haven't been able to create a board yet or see anyone's board it keeps giving me a 500 error.
