1st Trimester

7 weeks first time bleeding with clot

So this morning i had to use the restroom and had some cramps but i thought it was because i was a little constipated. I gave up trying to go and went to wipe and i had a dime sized clot and some bright red bleeding where there shouldn't have been bleeding. I called my doctor and the nurse said not to worry about it and to stay off my feet for 2 days until my next appointment on wednesday, or to call if it happens again or gets worse. I'm laying down now and there is no cramps or anything. Sort of worried. Haven't even gotten to see the baby yet. I was waiting for my ultrasound on wednesday.

Re: 7 weeks first time bleeding with clot

  • Sucks, but do what they said. And drink lots of water and take your vitamins. Lay low... It could be nothing. I had lots of bright red bleeding and cramping around 6 weeks with my DD and everything turned out fine. It's gonna be a long couple days for you but think good thoughts and imagine your LO's heart beating away. T&P

  • I had the exact same thing happen to me on Friday with some more red bleeding. My dr office had me go in right away. After blood work and an ultrasound everything is totally fine. It's normal, scary, but normal. Just take it easy, like they say and think happy thoughts.

  • THIS HAPPENED TO ME!! When I was 8 weeks, I didn't have any cramps, earlier in the day I just had some discomfort, I figured from going a while without eating, but then I had bright red blood with a clot (almost like the first wipe when your period begins). I was so nervous, called my doctor and they scheduled me in for an U/S. Fortunately saw the baby and it's heartbeat.

If you are really concerned, or if bleeding continues, call your doctor again and tell her you're bleeding more or having pains. They'll have to confirm baby isn't in any danger then

  • Also, bleeding early in the first tri is actually common, usually due to implantation!
  • at 7 weeks i had a subchorianic hematoma (sch). it was a blood clot created but veins in the uterus growing so quickly. i soaked through my jeans when it ruptured. i was convinced i had m/c and my mw was pretty certain too but at the confirmation u/s they found a healthy baby and heart beat. gl!
  • Thanks you so much everyone. It's really nice to know that this has happened to other people and everything seemed to be fine. I've been resting and my honey is taking care of me. I've gone pee a couple of times and just a couple drops of brown blood so i thinks thats a good sign. No cramping no nothing except that i still need to have a bowel movement but i'm scared to do that again.
  • Same here...perigestational bleed they said. HCG was still going up...so they did an ultrasound and saw an on-track baby and the heartbeat. So as long as you aren't still cramping and bleeding...it might just have been one of those things that happens. Just take it easy ;)

We'll be crossing our fingers that things continue to go well...

  • OK so a quick update. No bleeding after the first time yesterdayy and then i went the the restroom right before bed and i had less blood than the first time and a few tiny tiny clots on the toilet paper. No cramps all day. This morning when I woke up I went again and there was even less blood and it was mostly brown colored so i'm taking that as hopefully being a good sign. Staying off my feet until my appointment tomorrow morning. Feeling much better. Thank you everyone for your T&Ps.
  • I had that same bleeding starting at 6 weeks.  I just stopped bleeding a week ago. I am 10 wks 4 days.  Sometimes the clots where the size of softballs.  Yes i completely lost it the 1st time that happened.  I was diagnosed w a blood clot.  Threatened miscarriage.   So far the baby has not been affected.   It all depends on how big the clot is.   It can be found on a ultrasound.  I had to go to a specialist to be diagnosed.  So mention it to your dr at your next visit.  Good luck and keep us posted..
