BLW and meats

I know most of you are just starting to feed your LOs fruits and veggies but can someone teach me a little about BLW and meat/protiens?

We have been doing purees with DD for the last two months (she's 8 months...a May baby turned March preemie) at the advice of several of her therapists. But the idea of pureed chicken totally grosses me out so I thought we might try a BLW approach. She has done ok with the finger foods we've experimented with. I just wondered if anyone had some advice or experience to share.

Re: BLW and meats

  • I gave LO a strip of steak on Saturday - I was making a stir-fry, so I just cooked the meat unseasoned and took one out before I added the sauce. He did put it into his mouth, which is as far as anything has made it thus far.

He's also had a chicken thigh bone with a bit of meat on it to suck on. I have a can of salmon in the cupboard we'll have for lunch someday soon. Pretty much, the BLW approach is cut a piece big enough they can grab one end and eat the other. Keep baby sitting upright, and watch closely.

Thanks! This is what I needed to know-I wasn't sure how to cut the meat. That sounds so much better than chicken mush! I think we would have done BLW all the way if it hadn't been for the therapists' concerns (which I think were valid for my LO).
