Food Allergy

We might be having egg issues. :(

DS has been on baked egg for 3 days now. He seems to be getting eczema patches on his cheeks. It has been dry weather here, too, though so I'm hoping it's just a fluke... but I'm not so sure. He doesn't seem to be itching at all, though. Am I wrong to keep trying baked egg to see? His 1 year appointment is in a month and I guess I'll request RAST testing. This is the first sign we've seen as a possible allergy (besides the mega constipation from formula--which was remedied with Alimentum).

  • the easiest well to tell would be to pull the egg until his skin clears and then reintroduce.  eczma can be irritated by lots of stuff- but if you see a reaction again after pulling it for a few weeks then yes- I'd ask for the tests.

  • if you're seeing signs of a reaction with baked eggs, make sure you DO NOT introduce scrambled eggs until he's tested.  Baked eggs are much safer to test with though.. so like pp said, you can remove it from his diet for a few weeks and then try it again.. but honestly, if i was you, i would just avoid until i get him tested.

Also, keep a bottle of childrens benadryl in the house, just in case.
