Nice jeans review-SPOILER- go get them!

I'm trying to lose weight so I didn't want to spend a ton of money on nice jeans, but I've never really had nice jeans before and I wanted to see what they looked like for our family pictures.

I went to Neiman's last week and tried some on.  Prices ranged from $180-$240, which, I know, is ridick.  But, you guys.  You know how jeans shopping is usually the most horrible thing ever?  OMG.  It was awesome.  I was having... dare I say it... FUN.

So, then I went to Nordstrom Rack and bought 2 pairs for the price of 1 at Neiman's.  The denim consultant (ha!) at Neiman's told me to buy them as tight as I could because they will stretch out quite a bit.  He was right, and now they feel like they were custom made for me.

In sum: I love them.  They were worth every penny.  Go today at lunch and get some for yourself.

Re: Nice jeans review-SPOILER- go get them!

  • I agree. Premium denim is worth the $$$. It's the only thing I don't buy the "cheap" version of in my wardrobe.

At NR they were $80 each.  Half off.  So, you could get 1 pair.

I just never have loved a pair of jeans before.  It makes me feel trimmer and better about my appearance.  DH would have crapped himself, too, so that's why I didn't mention it.  I know its a ton of money to spend on yourself but that's why I'm making a big deal out of how its worth it.

  • Oh yeah, good jeans can make any ass fabulous! What brand did you end up buying?

  • Oooh!  So what kind did you get?

I'd give up eating before I'd give up nice jeans.

Go to Nords or Neimans and figure out which lines work for you, then go to the SM outlets to buy.  They have individual outlet stores for Joe's, 7FAM, True Religion, Lucky, and a few others. Price range is probably $50-100.

    Seriously, worth the money.

Gap jeans are $70-- that's just how they are these days. I try the $30 ones at Tarjay, but they make me feel like I have a fat crotch?!  Screw that. The one area I shouldn't have to worry about looking fat!

  • They are both Joe's.  I liked the TR's but they had big puffy pockets with buttons.  Hopefully next time I go they'll have less ornate ones.

  • Good to know! I've been thinking about this. I've just been buying cheapo Old Navy jeans because, well, nothing looks good on me. Anyways, at $25 a pop that last a month or two, it's adding up. I might have to venture over to Rack soon ...

Yes, and I've bought Gap before, and they were ok, but not amazing like these.  These are amazing.  I know my ass is still huge but I feel like its not mammoth sized anymore.

Mmmm, Joe's. Love! I have the Honey and they're such good butt jeans!

Yes!  Also keep an eye out on the sample sale sites once you know your brand/size - I am usually able to snag my $$$ jeans for well under $100.
  • Ha, yeah, I get ON jeans and they last me yearsss. $30 every 2-3 years is too sweet to pass up, no matter how great my ass looks in the other ones. I'm married. The only man I have to impress already thinks I have a great-looking badonk. (>>>insert quip about butthump<<<)

But then again, I also get 1 new purse every 2-3 years and only spend about $20 on them, too. And it's one of my 101 goals to spend MORE than $100 on a pair of non-athletic shoes...and I still haven't been able to bring myself to do it.

    I'm just not a shopper.

This is almost exactly me, too.  Except, I can be a shopper when I want to be, just a cheapa$$ shopper.  And, I once spent $150 on a pair of Manolo Blahnik slingbacks on eBay, which I love love LOVE, but that was pre-kiddos and pre-pregnancies and when my feet were smaller.  They don't fit so well now...  Crying

Anyway, I'm saving this post because I totally want to reward myself with a pair of great jeans when I start (and/or finish) losing weight after baby.  Before getting pregnant this time, I had set a goal to reward myself with a pair of 7's once I reached my goal weight, which I never reached because I got KU'd.  So I'll try again.  In January.

Yep.  The cheaper jeans always make me look like I have boy parts.  Ha.  So I definitely have no problems paying money to make sure my jeans look good on me.

Yes.  I have the Joe's Honey cut too that I bought for $60 at Last Call right after I had DS.  They were the only things I was sad to no longer be able to fit into after I lost all the PG weight.

  • I love Joe Jeans (and NR for that matter)!  The consultant guy was right - I could have used him the first time I bought them  b/c they did stretch out and were too loose.  Thankfully they are loose enough that I can still squeeze into them now at least for a few more weeks!  I also love the Joe Jean jeggings - seriously, they are awesome - have belt loops, pockets and look like jeans, but super form fitting.  And my added bonus - they are low rise and stretchy, so they are working so far for pregnancy!  I hope I dont outgrow them - I'll be really bummed.

  • i do love joe's.  all my premium denim were pre-baby purchases so needless to say, while i can zip em up, they aren't so comfy.  ;)

i got my first pair of skinny jeans this month at jcrew and heck even those were $90!

eta:  nice running shoes are non negotiable for me and my knees.  i'd lose the pricey jeans before i bought cheap athletic shoes.  lol

  • I've been loving my cheaper gap jeans lately because they have a higher rise and don't show any crack when I am bending over after DD. (I have about 4 pairs of premium brand jeans I bought before DD, and they all have a lower rise). However, the other night I put on my Joe's that I haven't worn in ages, and DH said, "Your ass looks awesome in those jeans!" So, apparently they are worth it!

I totally agree with this! I hate how much money I have to spend on running shoes, but it's either spend $100 a pair or no running for me. I think of them as a medical expense ;)

  • I would also rather starve than give up nice jeans, but fo sho, the outlets are where its at.  I'm so so so sad, both RR Outlets and SM Outlets closed their AG Jeans store where I used to get literally all my jeans.  Joe's are good too, but alas, I loved AG.  My @ss was bangin' in them.  :)

Neiman's is having a 25% off sale on all denim on the 9th.  You can go now, pay and pick them up on or after that day if ya want.  They have AG.
