DD keeps apologizing - for stuff that happened awhile ago

DD was on a kick a few weeks ago of calling me a Bad Mommy and saying "I'm not your friend"

I didn't react very much when she said it, but shook my head a little and said that's not very nice or that hurts my feelings - something along those lines and then later the same day, we'd talk about it and DD would tell me she was sorry and give me a hug and a kiss.  So, now, at least once a day, sometimes more, she'll randomly just say "I'm sorry I called you a bad mommy" which is sweet, but like a week late and she already apologized.  I don't want to belabor the point, but I don't want her to continue to feel guilty and feel the need to apologize for something either.  I'm of course worried that I'm doing something "wrong" and making her continue to feel guilty.

  • My DD does the same thing.  I wouldn't worry about it too much.  I usually say, thanks for telling me you're sorry.  I accept your apology.  and then I just move on.  Sometimes I will add something like, we all make mistakes/say something mean, etc. but the important part is that we say sorry and try not to do it again.

I think she is still trying to figure out how the whole forgiveness thing works :)
