So, how do YOU use pinterest?

Ok so I finally got on last week. Already a little addicted.

But when you sit down to actively play with it, what do you do? Just browse through your pinned friends stuff? Search for specific things? Click a pin and then see who else pinned it and look at those strangers boards?

Is there a way to search just among your friends' pins?

Just wanting to see if there are features and things I don't know about. I mostly just browse through the stuff on the main page, and maybe I don't have enough friends because it doesn't seem to refresh all that often.

I search and then end up just getting lost in all sorts of ideas. We need to redo our 2nd bath. Between the dog and the baby, we need a paint that will help to avoid mold, so I have been looking at ideas there. I have been looking at storage solutions, home-made cleaning products, crock-pot recipes, ideas for pictures...

I usually just look at the stuff that my friends have pinned but the odd time I will search for my own things.  I was wondering if I was missing something as well!?!

I browse the global pins that come up when you choose a category. I use pinterest mainly for storing patterns/tutorials for sewing, recipes, DIY projects for around the house, and for parenting ideas/children's activities for when Brendan is a little older.

I browse a lot but I search a lot as well. I use a lot of the images in my blog so I'll look for specific things. I'll browse for new recipes, ideas for LO or decorating the apartment! I'm on A LOT if you want to add me, you'll get a lot of refreshers!

All of this.  Sometimes I browse friends' pins also and repin those.

Primarily, I use it as a visual on-line collection of my favorites. So I have a board dedicated to, for example, snail mail so I can find those sites I like quickly from any computer. I also have my wish list there so I can send that link to family who has asked for Christmas. I do also browse my friends' pins and repin sometimes.

To be honest, I thought it was kind of silly at first, but I'm really loving it now. In fact, I am going to show my MIL how to use it this afternoon.

I hadn't thought of that!  I poke around the page of stuff that shows up when I get on, then I'll usually go to the drop down for DIY/ crafts and see what I can find there.  I don't have that many followers/ people to follow yet so my main page doesn't refresh all that often either.  I'm still fairly new to it- I haven't spent that much time on there yet.

I believe when you log in, it automatically defaults to your friends pins. I usually browse through those first. Then I will either search for things i'm looking for or search for key words and see what pops up. Once I searched "glitter" Oh that was fun! haha.
