4am screaming...Help!

DS had croup 3 weeks ago,so sleeping schedules got alittle off track. He was sick for a week. Week 2, he started screaming at the top of his lungs, if his toy got stuck or other things like that. Well he has now been waking up at 4am for the past 2 weeks, doing the screaming as loud as he can thing.

Things I have done to try to fix this:

Moved his nap up, he now sleeps from 12:30-2:30. Bed at 7:45pm

Snack at bedtime, maybe he was waking up hungry?

Turned the heat up a few degrees, maybe he was waking up cold?

CIO, every 10 minutes I would go in a reassure him its okay, than quickly leave...think Ferber-ish

Nothing has worked, and now with Daylight Savings, he has been up at 3am the past 2 days!!!

I am 19weeks pregnant and I am going to lose my mind if I don't get some sleep.

I don't think its night terrors, he is just standing in his crib screaming and as soon as I go in he is totally fine.

Any suggestions???

  • I don't think he is hungry.  I wonder if you can try to put him down for bedtime a little earlier, maybe 7:30 or 7:15?   With his poor sleeping he is not getting enough, so sometimes it causes sleeping to be less.  At least that is what I experienced.  DS sleeps better and longer when he is well rested.

    Good Luck.
