Or Bellanna. Or Bellonna. It's latin for Goddes of War. DS is Rex. DH also LOVES the connection to Star Trek, which I don't hate, but it isn't the main pull.
For the pronunciation you want, Bellanna might be better. Bellona looks like "bell-OWN-uh".
Otherwise, I think it's pretty. Do you have any NNs you love to offset the inevitable "balogna" references?
So far just Bell. NOT BELLA. LOL That's why I was leaning towards one of the 'o' options. Do you think Bellonna would read more like the pronunciation I mentioned? It would have the two 'N's like Donna.
I know Bellona is the goddess of war (I'm geeky that way), so it doesn't remind me of anything else, but I'm sure I'm in the minority.
Bellona with one n I would pronounce with a long o (Bell OWN a). Bellonna with two n's I'd pronounce to rhyme with Donna. But if I know a name has a particular origin I would prefer to spell it and pronounce it correctly, so if I named a girl Bellona (NMS but since it's Roman I think it's kind of awesome) I would spell and pronounce it the first way.

Bellona is a road near my house. Pronounced Bell-own-ah. It never would have crossed mind that it could be someone's name.
Was just going to say the same thing. I work in Towson.

Re: Bellona
It would be pronounced like the Star Trek Character.
bell-ON-na
Rhymes with Donna.
good to hear the Bologna references. I'll bring that up with hubs. I don't know if that is a deal breaker, because it isn't necessarily MEAN, YKWIM?

I would pronounce Bellonna as Bell-OWN-ah, which is very much like the sandwich!
I would pronounce Bellanna as Bell-ah-nah. I happen to live in the South, and rednecks would pronounce it Bell-Anna.
This. It also reminds me of Beluga whales.

This. If it were me, I wouldn't want my kid's name to remind someone of a lunch meat.
Shakespeare is better if you read him in the original Klingon.
The Star Trek character's name was spelled B'Elanna; perhaps spelling it Belanna would avoid the bologna pronunciation problem.
LOL. That would definitely fix it =]
