NBR - Nosey freakin' neighbors!

As I've posted before, DH landed a job with an oil company up in North Dakota, so he moved up there October 23 to start training, accumulate money, and look for a house for us. It hasn't been easy being separated from him with a 5 month old and a bunch of animals, but there are plenty of things that have to get done here in order to make this move easy. Between getting the house packed and cleaned, getting the horses' vet checks and transport squared away, getting the truck snow-ready, and dealing with our first "mommy and me" cold, I've been pretty busy.

So as I'm letting the dogs out to so their thing so I could feed the horses, my neighbor comes out and asks me how the baby and I doing. I was a bit surprised since we rarely speak, but I told him that we were fine, just getting over colds. He then proceeds to go off with "If there's anything you guys need, please let us know. I can only imagine how difficult things must be for you since your husband ran off".

Excuse me? Angry

Then I discover the more he's talking to me that not only did our neighbors think that DH "ran off" on me and LO, they decided to talk s**t about him all over the freakin' town. We live in a very small town (population is less than 3000), and a good chunk of the people here are DH's relatives or friends of relatives...so news spreads like wildfire here.

I lit into him, informing him that no, DH did NOT run out on us and that he was up North busting his a$$ trying to provide a better future for our daughter while I'm staying here long enough to get all of our stuff packed and our critters ready for the move. I also made it clear that what goes on in my marriage was none of his or anyone else's business, and how dare he attempt to tarnish my husband's reputation because he was too stupid to even bother asking if he was so curious.

SERIOUSLY?! DH has only been gone two weeks, so maybe he had a family emergency and couldn't afford to fly all three of us out and hire someone to look after the animals? Maybe he had a business trip? Maybe he went hunting with family? Nope! Neighbor went straight to "he left her and the baby" and then felt the need to gossip like some 13 year old girl.

I can't wait to move out of this town...
