Hi, Ladies! I haven't posted on this board before, but I just had my 2nd c-section on Halloween. After my first, I was given stool softeners in the hospital and they made sure I had a bowel movement before I was able to go home. This time, no stool softeners, and my OB told me that even though I hadn't pooped, as long as I was passing gas, then I was fine.
At this point (sorry if TMI!) I haven't pooped since last Sunday- a week! I feel fine, and I pass gas when needed. I have an appt to get my staples out on Monday, so I will talk to my OB about this then, but can anyone tell me if this is normal or totally out of whack and I should be worried and do something before Monday?
TIA!
Re: Question about pooping after CS/RCS
Speaking as an RN...You really should have had a BM by now. As long as you are not feeling super bloated or having pain, it is not a big worry though. However, I reccomend an OTC stool softner like colace or miralax. Make sure u are getting plenty of fluids and fiber. Also, know that if you are taking any pain meds, that these tend to slow things down even futher.

~ Had a healthy baby girl in June 2012 via C-Section (on prometrium to sustain).
~ Surprise pregnancy at age 40! Baby boy due April 26, 2021 (took prometrium to sustain once pregnancy was confirmed, 3rd C-Section planned).
Oh God... this brought back memories of my first PP poop. It was torture!
Stool softeners are the way to go. Make it easy on yourself. If OTC doesn't work, call your doctor.
