I go by the WTE book and 27,28,29,&30 are month 7. Some people have tried to tell me I can't say I am 7 months till I'm in the 8th month, but If that was the case you couldn't say you were 9 months till after the baby is born, so IMO if you are 27,28,29 or30 week I would call you 7 months pregnant.
And Idk about all OB's but my OB goes by this too.
*BFP m/c*BFP b/g twins *S/B 20w *BFP DS A 1-12-12 *BFP m/c *BFP m/c*BFP *It's a boy again* EDD 2-5-14
The easiest way to calculate at this point is to count backwards from your due date. Mine is Jan 24, so I won't consider myself 7 months along until Nov 24. I consider myself about 6 and a half months along at this point, and I too am 28 weeks.
Also, I consider myself in my 7th month, but I haven't been pregnant for 7 months yet. There's a difference. It's exactly how we say we're in the 21st century even though we haven't hit the year 2100 yet. I'm in my 7th month, but I'm 6 and a half months along. I'll be in my 9th month in January even though I won't be 9 months along until my due date.
Since 40 weeks =/= 9 months I count months by counting back from my due date and weeks like the OB does from the LMP. I am 28w. I will be 7mo on Nov. 25th.

I am one of those who doesn't say I'm 7 mo. until 7 months are complete... like you wouldn't say you're child is 1 year old until one year is complete. If you use the 9 month logic, you hopefully wouldn't be saying you're 9 months pregnant, because you should be delivering by that point anyway. (Although pregnancy is really 9.5 months... so I guess you could say it for a couple weeks and if you're overdue.)

Right. I think if you started saying you were 9mo a month and a half before your due date, it would not only confuse people, but make it seem like it was dragging on forever!! In your 9th month, yes, but not actually 9mo, just like you said, your child is in their 12th month of life for a month before their birthday, but aren't actually 12mo old until their birthday.

You're 6 1/2 mo. To say you're in the 7th month before you HIT the 7-month mark is like calling a baby 1 when they're only 4 months old because "they're in their first year" or saying they're a month old the day they're born, since they've begun their 1st month. Not how it works! I just go with "I'm almost 7 mo", which makes me feel like I'm getting somewhere! Lol

Totally agree with this.
I agree with this. You are in your 7th month of pregnancy. People can think whatever they want. Sometimes I tell people what week I am but most of the time I tell them the month and let them figure it out from there. I know my mom told people she was 9 months pregnant, because she's told me that when we've looked back at photo albums and we come across a picture of her either pregnant with one of my sisters or myself. Count however makes you feel best.

Wouldn't that put the end of month 9 at your due date, the start of month 9 at Dec 24th, the start of month 8 at Nov 24th, and the start of month 7 at Oct 24th?

Exactly. It would be the start of the seventh month, so you wouldn't be 7 months pregnant until the end of the seventh month. So on October 25th, you're not 7 months. You're 6 months and a day. In your 7th month, but not yet 7 months. Just like your LO will be in their first month of life the first day they are out of the womb, but you wouldn't tell someone they are 1mo old.

Hmm....I think that:
28-32 weeks= you're 7 months.
32-36 weeks= you're 8 months.
36-40 weeks= you're nine months.
I do it this way because in my mind four weeks= 1 month.
